Hi I'm Austin

I'm a Filipino born in Japan and serving a mission in Australia. I love the violin and nachos. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Japan to a loving family and raised in the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ. My dad is from the Philippines and my mom is from Utah. I currently live in the heart of Utah -the Mormon capital- though I've lived in Maryland and Oregon too and have loved each place and the friends I've made along the way. But my best friends have always been my family. I have one brother, three sisters, and two of the cutest nephews on earth. I don't know what I'd do without them. I play the violin, piano, and guitar, and love to sing whenever I can, so I guess you could say I LOVE music. Owl City and Henryk Wieniawski are my jam. I have a cat named Charlie and I admire the calm and care-free life he lives amidst the busy world of today. He didn't choose the snug life. The snug life chose him. I played tennis in high school but I'm always up to play some basketball and ultimate frisbee as well. I also like hiking and enjoying the beautiful world God created for us. I am currently preparing to serve a mission in Sydney Australia and I couldn't be more excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not because I was forced to be, but because I wanted to be. I mean it when I say that nothing else has brought me more joy, more sense of purpose, more love, and more growth than the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now I'll admit that in the past I had struggles with my faith and, like any other member, really had to search myself and -as the scriptures put it- "wrestle with God" through much studying, pondering and prayer to know if this really was the true restored church of Jesus Christ. And through this struggle I've come out stronger than ever before in my faith and I can proudly say I know God lives. I know Jesus Christ lives and he suffered for my many sins. I know Joseph Smith was called by God to restore His church on the earth in these latter days and I know He has also called prophets today just like in times of old to lead and guide us through these hard times. I know God's laws never change, and have always been the same forever. I know God gave us commandments out of His love for us. And I know that by obeying His commandments and laws we will find true joy in this life. So why am I a Mormon? I guess I just love it too much not to be!

How I live my faith

I live my faith through reading my scriptures and praying to God everyday for help and guidance in life. I also attend my weekly church meetings and church youth group activities to learn about and strengthen my testimony of my Savior's love and sacrifice for me. I willingly give 10% of my financial income to my church and try to give at least 10% of my other talents to God as well, whether that be through playing music for church or at retirement homes or cheering up a sad friend. I also serve around my neighborhood by cleaning peoples' houses or yards and being a friend to everyone. I basically live my faith by trying as best I can to live as Christ lived.
