Hi I'm Cayden Wayne Thompson

I grew up in Herriman Utah. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Cayden Thompson. I am 18 years old and just graduated from Union High School in Vancouver Washington. I have been accepted at Utah State in their aviation program. I will defer that admission until I get back from my mission. I have been called to the Peru, Piura Mission. I leave on Oct. 4th. Until I leave I work at Popeyes here in Vancouver. I have worked there for a little over a year. We actually moved here from Utah last year for my dads work. We had lived in Utah for 13 years. It was a bit hard to leave all our friends and family there, especially going into my senior year. It was the right decision for my family. My lacrosse team ended up taking the State Championship. It was awesome. I am really excited to go on a mission and serve the people of Peru. My sister Audrey and I went on a humanitarian trip this summer to Merida Mexico with H.E.F.Y. It was so fun and I have never felt closer to the spirit then I did there. I made some incredible friends and memories that will last my whole life. I even go to open my mission call there. It was AWESOME! It got me so pumped for my mission. I just can't wait to go and serve!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I first just went because that is what we do in our family. I went to church, I did scouts and went to seminary. Don't get me wrong, seminary was a struggle, especially when we moved here to Vancouver. Early Morning Seminary was NOT my friend. Just ask my sister who had to basically drag me out the door every day. As life went along, I was able to see Heavenly Father's hand in my life and see how the atonement was for me and that he was able to help me overcome weaknesses in my life. I know I would not have made it without His help. He helped me feel the spirit and know that he cared and that he would never give up on me. I was able to see that just like my parents, he would love me no matter what. He is constantly giving me experiences to strengthen my faith and help me as I prepare to serve my mission and the people of Peru. 1st Corinthians 10:13 is a scripture that has really come to mean a lot to me. If your struggling, don't give up on the Lord. He will not give up on You. He can help you overcome.

How I live my faith

The first time I really got involved in my community here was when I did my Eagle project. I did a "Baby Care" drive for Vida's Ark. My friends and family helped me hand out flyers and stand in front of WalMart. We collected diapers, wipies, baby shampoo, baby soap, diaper rash ointment and baby wash cloths. I really can't believe how much stuff was collected. We collected almost 600 diapers and 100's of wipies and bottles of baby stuff. The lady got all teary when my mom and dad and I came to deliver all the stuff. It was so awesome to see how giving people where. People were coming out of Walmart with Cases of diapers and everything. Vida's Ark help teen mom's and young families all over Clark County. They even gave me an award for "Volunteer of the Year" for all the donation I gathered for them. It was really neat.
