Hi I'm Jennifer Bourland

I grew up in Kentucky. I'm an art, photo and food enthusiast. I love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a full time college student, missionary for The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I love running, soccer, spending time outdoors, photography, traveling, trying new things and food! I love this gospel and the pure joy it brings into my own, and others, life. I know this church is true and I hope to help others see the pure love of Christ and our Heavenly Father through it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and my parents have been members all their lives too. I love this gospel so much. I know the pure joy that it leads us to. It promises each one of us that God has an individual plan for us. In times of hardships I know that I can turn to Him and be comforted through the power of the Holy Ghost. I can be protected from the evil influences of the world, and I can carry the Light of Christ with me. I know that Jospeh Smith was a prophet of Heavenly Father and through His power Joseph was able to restore the gospel on this earth. I testify of The Book of Mormon and the truth that it holds. It is the greatest guide we have to life and it's filled with the true stories of this land and how God has shown His love for us. His plan is the perfect plan of happiness, and I know that through this gospel I can live with my family for all time and eternity, I can give and recieve unconditional love and I can know that I am living the standards that Heavenly Father has given us to recieve personal joy in this life and in the next. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

When I turned 12 I was a part of the Young Women program. I recieved my Young Womanhood Medallion and through the program was able to come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I could more easily see how The Holy Ghost ca be our guide and our comforter in this life, and I am happy to still be able to be a tool in God's hands to be able to helps others feel the joys and love of this gospel. I have been a Sunday school teacher, visiting teacher and visiting teaching companion. Through visiting teaching I could visit another sister in my ward, develop a stronger relationship with her and see how I can help her in times of need and share spiritual messages with her once a month. I will be serving a mission for the church, which means I will leave my family for 18 months in order to Share the true messages of this faith and hope to bring others into it, so that they can know of this eternal happiness.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jennifer Bourland
No, as members we are not required to serve missions. We have been given agency in this life, therefore we cannot be forced to go. However, young men are srongly encouraged to serve missions. Young Women can choose to go if they would like, but there is no pressure. It is a persoanl decision, and it is a privelage to go and show the love of this church to people around the world.
