Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm from California, I'm going to serve a mission in Tahiti, I love my family, and I'm a mormon!!

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 children! I love going to art museums, shopping, playing piano, making fruit smoothies, and being with friends at college!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I was younger, I felt the Holy Spirit in church with my family. I decided to read the entire Book of Mormon, which teaches of Jesus Christ, and pray to know if it is true. I have felt deep in my heart that it is true. Because of Jesus Christ, my pain and guilt have been turned into joy and love.

How I live my faith

I love music. Music helps me feel closer to God. I have loved playing piano in church because it is my way of expressing my gratitude for all God has given me.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

The priesthood is the power and authority to act in God's name. Men use the priesthood to bless our lives with "ordinances," or religious ceremonies, such as baptism and the sacrament. But women can act with the priesthood as well! Although women aren't formally given the priesthood, when they lead, teach, serve, and love people in the church, they too are directed by God. Women are absolutely vital to the leadership of the church. Our unique strengths, such as being able to empathize emotionally, allow us to serve in ways that men sometimes cannot. Men and women complement each other. Show more Show less
