Hi I'm John Fluhman

I grew up in Utah. I've made music and played with bands. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Before deciding I was ready to serve as a missionary, I completed by first year of college. School was demanding, but I love acquiring knowledge and being able to soak up any information I can about politics and the world around us. Between studying and working in the tech field, I loved to hike and enjoy the outdoors. Most of all, I played and still play my guitar as much as possible. While I now write my own music, I had the opportunity to be apart of a few bands before moving away to school. Playing gigs and having a good time on stage is all the fun I need, and my band's music even made it onto the radio!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon today because I am most happy when I follow Christ's commandments and keep Him centered in my life. While I was raised as a Mormon, I went through a period of serious doubt and questioning while attending High School. Feelings of insecurity and loneliness made me ask myself where I had gone wrong, and what I needed to do to fix it. After exhausting what seemed to be every other option, I decided that I would give faith one last shot. The warm embrace of the Savior's love was overwhelming as I worked tirelessly to feel the Spirit and come back to the fold. Through His infinite Atonement, I was able to become clean again in the sight of the Lord, and I was able to recapture the feelings of security and companionship that I desperately longed for. His love keeps by His side, as the constant companionship of the Spirit is something I cannot live without. I know that Christ lives, I know that he died for me and for all so that we could feel the love that I have felt. Joseph Smith was led by divine guidance to restore the gospel, and the Lord still speaks today through living prophets like Thomas S. Monson. The Book of Mormon speaks truth, and it has brought me endless joy. He lives, and because He lives I have hope.

How I live my faith

As a college student, I had the unique opportunity of being apart of a ward that consisted almost entirely of other college students. Because of this, I was able to serve in leadership positions not normally afforded to young men of my age. I was able to look out for the fellow men in my ward while also ensuring that the dear sisters of our ward were taken care of. Through home teaching I was able to find out the needs of my sisters while also fulfilling a priesthood responsibility to watch out for my fellow church-goers. As a missionary, I will have the opportunity to not only teach investigators in my area, but I will be able to serve them and help them feel the happiness that I have found in the gospel.
