Hi I'm Megan Ashbaker

I grew up in Washington State. I am a college student. I am a missionary. I'm an aspiring writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really love to read and write. Ive read everything from Harry Potter to James Patterson to Jane Austen. I am attending college in Utah to get a degree in Family Law. I'm adopted. I have a great relationship with all of my family members, those I grew up with and those I've only met recently. Family has always been really important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Latter Day Saint because I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored upon the earth. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and answers my prayers. I know that Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and gave us the wonderful gift of the Atonement. I know that Christ died for me so that I may live with my Father in Heaven again some day. I know that Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and Jesus Christ in a grove of trees when he was only 14 years old. I know that he really did translate the Book of Mormon, an ancient record, by the power of God. I know that there are prophets again on this earth today and they lead and guide us with the power and authority from God. I know there is power in abiding by the precepts of God's commandments. God, our Heavenly Father, loves us and wants us to come unto Him through His Son. I'm a Mormon because I know that my Heavenly Father wants what is best for me and He loves me and wants me to come closer to Him. I have felt what it is like to be lost, to not know if there is a God. But I know that if you follow God's commandments and you abide by the teachings of His Prophets, you won't feel lost, you will feel the joy and happiness and peace that only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by doing the things I know will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father. I believe that faith without works is dead. So in other words if you don't act on your faith or don't do what you know to be true then your faith will dwindle. I'm a ward missionary in my congregation, what that entails is I go out with the missionaries from my singles ward and I help invite others to come to church or just to our activities. I'm basically a guaranteed friend at church functions if you don't know anyone or don't know who to sit by. I love going out with the missionaries or at church functions and just getting to know people in all walks of life, either just starting college or been established in a career for years. My congregation is made up of people ages 18 to 30 who are single. It's a way for us to all have a family away from our own or before we settle down and get married. I live my faith every day. I know that there is a God, I know that Christ atoned for our sins, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I know these things because I have tested my faith and asked God in prayer. Faith without works is dead, I know that and I live it.
