Hi I'm Blake

I grew up in Mesa Arizona. I played baseball and volleyball in high school and I love hunting and fishing. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona and I am the oldest of 7 children. In high school I played baseball and volleyball and participated the top orchestra and choir. In my free time I like to play sports of any kind and to be outdoors. I love fishing and hunting. I love to explore new places and have new experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and that through prayer we can communicate with them. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and that it is a one hundred percent true book. I know that if we have faith in Christ he can help us through any challenges that we have, and help us even have joy in those times of trial. I also know that if we faith in him and develop a relationship with him that he can make our weak things become strengths. I know that this true and I know that anyone who has a desire to know of the truth can know for them selves too.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it with others. Right now I am a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am serving in Tallahassee Florida. As a missionary we invite others to come unto Christ and help them develop a relationship with God. I love to read the scriptures because I learn so much as I pray and ponder the messages it contains.

What is the First Vision?

Blake
The first vision started as a simple question. A 14 year old boy named Joseph Smith had gone to many churches, but didn't feel like there was one true church. He wanted to find the one church that was true. So he turned to the scriptures and found his answer. He was reading in the Bible in the book of James, first chapter and fifth verse. It reads, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." So Joseph Smith took that invitation to heart and went into a grove of trees near his house and began to pray. He prayed with sincere desire to know what church was true. In his own words he said, "I saw a pillar of light, exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me, I saw two personages whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name, and said, pointing to the other, this is my beloved son, hear him!" At this point, Joseph saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. He was told that none of the churches on the earth had the priesthood authority, and that he was to restore, or bring back, the church that Christ had established during his ministry.
