Hi I'm Brianna Skeen

I've lived in Utah my whole life. I've always been a friend to the friendless. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high school graduate and now sister missionary with a passion for musical theater and music in general. It is my dream to be a choir teacher and possibly even compose and perform my own music. I believe that music is a universal language that can be understood by anyone in the world no matter what nationality, ethnic background, or language they may speak. I have had the awesome privilege of experiencing such a marvelous thing first hand in my recent travels to Europe on a music tour. I have been in musicals since I was three and I have always loved the thrill of performing, being able to see the joy shows can bring to others.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been fortunate enough to have grown up in the church, always having a strong support system. Since I was a small child I have had a testimony of the gospel. I knew that I was a child of God and that Christ and Heavenly Father loved me and were mindful of me. My life has not been easy. In my adolescence, my dad lost his job and my mother went back to school to try to gain a college degree. All of a sudden I had to take on extra responsibilities in taking care of my family sacrificing time with friends so that I could make meals, do laundry, housework, and help my younger siblings with their homework. When I was seventeen, I broke my leg and got a concussion within a month of each other. During these trials I pleaded with Heavenly Father in prayer asking "why me?", "why now?". I struggled to find the good and all I could do was hope for a better day when the world could be right again. I drew closer to my Father in Heaven, and I drew closer to Christ. I know that trials happen for a reason. I know that often times there are lessons that need to be learned and that sometimes they are painful. But that all things are for our good. I don't know where I would be if I didn't have a relationship with my Father in Heaven. He is everything to me. My love for him is present in what I say and what I do. My only hope is that I can give back a little of what he has given me by serving his children and helping them to feel the same love, peace, and happiness that I feel. I am nothing without him. But with him I can accomplish anything that is put in front of me. And I know that the same is true for all of his children which includes all the inhabitants of the earth.

How I live my faith

I have served in my community by being the president of my youth group, loving and leading girls my age in helping them to gain a better relationship with Christ and with each other through planning uplifting and fun activities we can do together. I also have taught the children in my neighborhood at church trying to be a good role model that they can look up to and come to if they have any problems, in addition to their parents. I have striven to be a contributing member of society helping in food drives, helping in the neighborhood garden, raking neighbors leaves in the fall, and donating blood when I can. We are all children of God and if I can do my part in helping those around me, then I have made some difference in the world. And now I am trying to make a difference by serving an LDS mission in the Canada, Toronto mission.
