Hi I'm Lexie

I'm a pretty shy person but I'm working on overcoming that. Ether 12:27 is my favorite scripture. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Lexie and I'm a Mormon! I just finished my freshman year of college at BYU-Provo and am now preparing to serve for 18 months in the Argentina, Posadas mission. Something that I think has defined me as a person is that I've moved just about every two years of my life up until I started college. Some people find it easier to talk to new people and make friends after moving as much as I have. For me, it's had the opposite effect. I've been trying for the last few years to break out of my shell, and slowly but surely I'm getting there! A mission is sure to bring on new challenges, but I know that with Heavenly Father's help I can do the work I've been called to.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church has always been a constant in my life that I have always been grateful for. Throughout all my moves my family has always been able to rely on the fact that no matter where we go, there will be an LDS Church in our area with the same spirit and the same doctrines as where we had last lived. I knew I could rely on there being a Primary when I was a little girl, and a Young Womens program when I was in Middle School and High School. Wherever we went, my family still had connections from which we could ask for help and rely on for friendship. I have a strong testimony in the love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for all of us, Mormon or not! I have felt Their love for me many times throughout my life through the Holy Ghost. My deepest desire as a future missionary is to share Their love for all of us with the rest of the world. It doesn't matter how many mistakes we make or how imperfect we are, They will ALWAYS love us more than we can truly understand.

How I live my faith

I am a Gospel Principles teacher during the second hour of church on Sunday. Gospel Principles is the class for those investigating the church as well as new converts. In the class we talk about the things that have already been or will be taught by the missionaries. Discussion and questions are not only allowed, but encouraged in this class (as they are in all church classes)! Aside from teaching I also work at the Houston Temple every Tuesday and Thursday with my mom.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

There are two reasons. 1 - Because God asked us to! God loves all of His children and wants all of His children to be able to return to Him. In our church we believe we cannot enter the presence of God until we are clean and have participated in every saving ordinance that are only available with the restored gospel. In the New Testament, Jesus taught His disciples to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations," (Matthew 28:19) we believe that this decree, as with all other commandments and teachings of Christ, still applies to us today. 2 - Because we love this gospel! Personally, If I didn't truly believe this church was true I wouldn't even consider giving up 18 months of my life to go and try and convince a bunch of strangers that it was! I know this church is true because of the feelings and confirmations that have been given to me by the Holy Ghost. Living the gospel brings more joy to my life, and I want to share that joy with anyone who is ready to receive it. A mission is spirtualy uplifting and many missionaries enjoy their work, but it is work. It's not an 18-24 month vacation. I love this gospel and the peace it has brought to my life. I want to help others come to know Heavenly Father's plan for them. I have a strong testimony of Heavenly Father's love for His children, no matter their past or current circumstances, and I want to help others feel His love for them too. Show more Show less
