Hi I'm Amanda

I'm from a small town in Massachusetts. I'm a basketball player who loves music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! My name is Amanda, and I'm a big fan of trying to find the positive of every situation! :) I'm involved in two college sports, women's basketball and outdoor track and field, and I love getting in the gym and lifting. In terms of my studies, I am currently majoring in Biology and Spanish! I'm also involved in a really neat program that gives each of those majors an international twist, and am on the pre-medical track. It's a pretty busy lifestyle but I wouldn't have it any other way! In terms of other interests, I am very into music and art! I sing the gospel choir at my university, and have been singing/playing the piano for many years. In terms of art, I really enjoy painting.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the Spirit of the Lord touch my heart and tell me that this is Christ's restored church here on the Earth. The Lord has been so unbelievably good to me, and I can feel His presence and His love so strongly as a member of this wonderful faith. There was a time in my life when I was not happy and I did not understand my worth. However, through obedience to the standards taught here and a willingness to open my heart to the words of all scripture, including The Bible, The Book of Mormon and other works, as well as to the words of our modern day prophet and leaders, my life has completely changed! I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that through Joseph Smith the Lord established His church again here on the earth. I know that the Lord loves us more than we could ever imagine, and that because he loves us he has given us the opportunity to be with our families forever if we do what he asks us to do. I have a testimony that the Lord has given us a modern day prophet to guide us and to teach us, and that the Lord will never abandon us. I testify of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and I know that if an individual reads it and prays, asking with real intent if it is true, that he/she will receive an answer to that prayer. I am so thankful for this wonderful church and for the blessings the Lord has poured into my life as I live the standards he requires!

How I live my faith

I am an active member of the church community! I love the family atmosphere that exists in this church, and opportunities to serve one another present themselves almost every week! One of my favorite ways to be involved is to accompany the missionaries throughout the day, giving them rides wherever they need to go, assisting them in service, and helping them to teach lessons. In the past I have also taught 3 year olds in Sunday School, have helped teach children in the nursery (ages 18 months to 3 years), have been called to leadership roles among the young women (which includes girls ages 12-18), and have had to teach the adult class in Sunday School. I have also helped to organize church events and service projects! It's all a lot of fun :)
