Hi I'm Carl

I live in Sanpete County, Utah, USA. I recently retired from my life long occupation. I was baptized when I was 35. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Utah and have for over half my life. I grew up in a Christian home in Colorado. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was well into my adulthood. My oldest child, a boy, and I were baptized the same day. A year later my family was sealed in a temple for time and all eternity. I enjoy the Gospel of Jesus Christ and working on my home. Helping others meet their needs is very important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the urging of my wife and oldest child. More importantly, though, I joined it because I developed a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and that this is God's church on the earth. My testimony has only deepened through the years and I am now ready to go outside my local area and to serve, with my wife, a mission in another land. I would never consider something like this if I did not know with a surety that the work I am about to enter into was not right and that there are people, like I was, that do not know that God has a great plan prepared for us. I must increase my help to others who are searching so that they can have the same blessings that I enjoy.

How I live my faith

During my many years as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have mostly worked with the youth, especially the boys in the Scouting program. I am continually amazed by the incredible inner strength of the young people. I have, also, held leadership positions, both on the ward/branch and stake levels. These have allowed me to associate with superb men and women.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Carl
Mormon missionaries want everyone to have what they have - a knowledge of and belief in Jesus Christ and His restored Church. I once had this type of behavior explained to me as my having found a great sale on a set of tires and, knowing that my neighbor needed tires for his car, telling him about the sale. The missionaries have something much more valuable than a great price on tires and, because it is so important, they want to share it with all of their neighbors, wherever they might be. In whom should we have faith?

Carl
I feel that I have only recently begun to understand what faith really is. To me, now, it is a deep and abiding love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It is a willingness to accept Them for who they are and for what They want me to become. Show more Show less
