Hi I'm Makenna Pike

I grew up on the beach with a guitar in my hand, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California learning how to surf, dance, and play many different instruments. I love spending my time out of doors whether that be backpacking, hiking, camping, or just simply hanging out outside. I attended school in Hawaii for a year and it was a dream come true. I look forward to going back, but right now I am so excited to be serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am dedicating a year and a half of my life to serve a full-time mission in the Alaska Anchorage Mission. I have never lived in the snow and cold is not concept to me, but I look forward to braving this new adventure so I can serve the Lord and His Children. I know that through faith in Jesus Christ I can do all things.

Why I am a Mormon

Although many of my friends believe I am only a Mormon because that was how I was raised, I am a Mormon because of my own, personal decision. I have been exposed to many christian faiths and I know that without a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches and preaches the truth. I have personally wrestled with my faith and after many doubts, I have felt my Savior's love undeniably strong because of what I have learned by reading the Book of Mormon and listening to Latter-day Prophets. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father, that His Son was sent to this earth to atone for the sins of everyone on the Earth, and that the Holy Spirit constantly guides me to be a better person. I would not know these things with such conviction if I was not a Mormon and I am thankful for the knowledge that I have because I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints comes with many responsibilities and lots of member participation. As a result, you become apart of a loving community filled with people who want to help you as much as they can and an environment where you can feel our Heavenly Father's love. I live my faith by following the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ, to the best of my ability. Reading the scriptures, praying, participating in church callings, and living the doctrine that is taught through all these resources has given me the way to know what it means to be a disciple of Christ. I strive to serve my Lord and His children everyday and it is through this determination that I live my faith.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Makenna Pike
I think the most notable quality of a Mormon is how happy they are. You will never see a faithful member of the church unhappy or at least you will never see them lose hope. The purpose of this earth is to "have Joy" as it says in 2 Nephi 2:25 from the Book of Mormon. Mormons are happy because they strive to be like Jesus Christ. They do this by personal prayer, scripture study, and attending church. Mormons are also passionate about families. They do all that they can so that their families are happy and healthy. Much of a Mormon's life is based on the well being of the family. Not only do the want to help their own families, they strive to help everyone else through service, missionary work, and reaching out to the community. So in the end Mormons live a happy lifestyle by loving everyone they encounter and striving to help them as much as they can. Show more Show less
