Hi I'm Shannon Smith

I love music, the stars, and food (in that order). I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I will be leaving on my mission for two years to Fresno, California, on September 7th. I play guitar and sing: it is my true passion. I play every sport that comes along, focusing on frisbee, wrestling, and running. I'm 5'11" and 155lbs. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I believe it brings more lasting happiness than anything else can on Earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because (even before I believed that God lives and cares for us) I took an unbiased look at the Church and decided that it brings a more perfect and longer lasting happiness on Earth than any other means of living. When I devoted myself to the works and standards of the Church, I found myself praying and reading the scriptures, and I began receiving answers to my prayers in feelings and sometimes in thoughts and signs. I know the Gospel of this Church is true and that it will bring happiness. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon from an ancient set of gold plates. I know that Jesus Christ died for the sins of man, including me and you personally.

How I live my faith

Every month with my Young Men group, we participate in some kind of service project for the community, such as cleaning a park, building a bench, or clearing someone's backyard if they aren't able. For the past 6 years I've been one of the leaders in my Young Men groups, and I've seen firsthand the growth of love and happiness in my peers as they serve others and try their best to be selfless.
