Hi I'm Jared

I'm from Washington state. I'm super Granola. One of my life goals is to build a go-kart.

About Me

I was born in Utah but because of abuse and addiction my parents got a divorce when I was 11. I moved to Washington state and struggled through my teenage years with trying to decide what I believed and who I was this plus my unstable emotional state led to severe depression and anxiety. I finally moved to Utah to try to redeem my life. I live with my uncle now. I work hard to get and stay healthy. I have created new hobbies like snowboarding/longboarding, fishing, hiking and serving people around me! I have really found solace and healing in living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I now know that it is the best way for me to be happy in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church but I lost faith in my early teens because of a lack of understanding and trauma from my childhood. I stopped going to church and trying to live it and fell into a really dark place. I had no hope, no healthy relationships, and no happiness. I didn't think it would ever end. When I moved to Utah I went to my uncles church but I had a hard time connecting with people there so my attendance was shaky. I finally moved to a young adult ward and with the help of that bishop found some of the help I needed. I found out that although I have made many mistakes, there is and will always be hope through Jesus Christ. Not hope just for the justification of my sins but for me to become a better person and live a more selfless life. It's been a year since I've started on this path and I can honestly say that I am like a new person. I can feel again and love my life and the people around me. If you are reading this there is hope for a better future. Don't be content with stagnation! Strive for continuous growth. Life can always be better. I know that. Through Jesus Christ any person can change for the better.

How I live my faith

I work hard to live a good life. This includes working full time at my job to support myself and pay taxes to keep my country running. I love work! It helps me to feel like I am productive and contributing. I also try to do one act of service every day. This could be roofing someone's house, helping a friend fix a car or something small like just listening to someone when they're having a hard time. I also participate in church services. I was able to be a counselor at a LDS youth camp this year (2016). I loved being able to share my story and bear testimony of Jesus Christ. I was lucky I had such an awesome group!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jared
Yes, Yes, Yes! The Bible is a wonderful, powerful tool to come closer to and learn of God. The bible is a testament and history of God The Father and Jesus Christ leading mankind back to them. It focus's on Christ's dissension to the Jews and His holy calling to save all of God's children. I love how it supports and teaches the same principles and doctrine as what Christ taught to the people of the Americas. Show more Show less
