Hi I'm Alex

I am half Chinese and half Japanese. I love life. I never stop trying. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for the church in the Japan, Kobe mission. My hobbies include playing the piano and cello, singing, swimming, reading, origami, playing video games, acting, and spending time with friends and family. I'm stubbornly optimistic, I don't like to take myself too seriously, I love making people laugh (or roll their eyes), and I think that the arts are magical things. I aspire to be a medicinal chemist and a father one day. To whom it may concern, I am a Hufflepuff. Also a nerd.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because of how it has helped me grow as a person, and the peace and comfort I feel because of Jesus Christ and His gospel. I am a Mormon because I always feel hope, and joy in knowing that there's always a way back to following God. We believe in Jesus Christ and through His atoning sacrifice, we can repent, changing our hearts, and making it so we don't have to be tomorrow who we are today. That everlasting hope has rooted me in this gospel. I like many other Mormons was born into this church, relying on the testimonies and teachings of others to propel me forward. In the middle of my teenage years however, I came to a point where I had to decide to be part of this church or not. And for a while, I chose not to be. I thought I was being strong, independent, and free. In reality, it was the biggest low point I had ever hit. I wasn't truly happy, and I didn't know why. The only thing that changed was that I stopped trying in my religious faith. So, I took a leap of faith, and actually tried. And I found a joy beyond anything I'd ever known. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive to the best of my ability to follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I try to be the kind of person that He would want me to be, however many mistakes I make along the way. This meaning that I try to be kind to everyone, forgive who hurts me, apologize to those I hurt, and constantly learning and improving myself, and hopefully living in a way that would help others. I want to share why I have hope and love life, that "why" being this gospel.
