Hi I'm Tyler

I grew up in Utah. I'm a Mechanical Engineering student. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I've just finished my first year of study for an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have an occasional interest in writing and drawing, but I usually stick to math. Yes, I'm that strange person that, for the most part, likes mathematics. As well as reading. In fact, I'd rank the interests at mathematics, reading, writing, then drawing.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a "Mormon"? This was a question that I've been asking myself for the past three or so years. The answer always seems to come back to: because it makes me happy. You would think that there would be some complex reason, but ultimately that's what it amounts to. I'm a pretty shy individual by nature, but as a Sunday School teacher discussing the principles that this Church teaches I can feel the truth of the message as well as the confidence to convey it. To anybody that's questioning what I just said about the truth of the message, I encourage you to ask God in faith, just like Joseph Smith Jr. did! This church was literally established on the principle of "ask and ye shall receive". So ASK!

How I live my faith

So right now I'm a Sunday School teacher in my ward, for a class called "Gospel Principles". This involves preparing and giving an hour-long lesson every other week on Sunday about a specific concept of what we refer to as the gospel. I mentioned that I have finished a year of schooling, but didn't mention continuing. This isn't because of the difficulty (though it was difficult at times) but rather because I am preparing to serve a mission!

What is the Book of Mormon?

Tyler
Simply put it is yet another testament, or evidence, that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Much like the Bible, it contains a record of God's dealings with His children and it was written by ancient prophets, in fact it is called such because it was compiled by a prophet named Mormon. These prophets knew of and prophesied of the life, ministry, and Atonement of Jesus Christ. This knowledge gave them great joy. The highlight of the entire book is when Jesus Christ visits these people following his resurrection. The two books of scripture are unified in purpose: to convince the world that God loves all of his children and has a plan in motion to redeem all that will exercise faith in Jesus Christ.
