Hi I'm Jacob Austin Smith

I was adopted at age one by an amazing family. My life's a miracle. I play piano/percussion, hike, camp and run and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a musician. My favorite instrument is a piano, but you can often find me drumming on a table, wall or anything else. I enjoy running to relieve stress and as a way to hang out with friends. I am an avid camper and hiker. I also am very interested in the sciences, specifically the environmental sciences. I've taught nature classes as part of a summer camp and enjoyed it a lot. My favorite constellation is the Pliedies.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have prayed sincerely for an answer. I know for myself about the truthfulness of the Gospel. I also have not found any worldview that has so many answers and encourages such a wonderful, loving existence. In the end, I know I'm in the Church because God has guided my life. I was born to drug addicts but was adopted into the perfect family for me, already in the Church. My body's development despite the drugs I was born with is a miracle that never ceases to amaze me. God's hand is in my life. I do not doubt it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day to day by being accepting of others and doing my best not to judge others. Growing up in California, I ran into many opposing views. As a result, I can get along with people of just about any peaceful opinion. I also am not afraid to speak out about my faith when others put down my views. Currently I am serving in the Nicaragua Managua South Mission, spreading the Gospel and hastening the work.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Jacob Austin Smith
There is no restrictions on who can join the Church and which men can receive the priesthood. I know people of every color in this Church. As long as you are worthy, we would love to have you. The priesthood has been restricted to men because of the commandments of God, but women are promised all the blessings of the priesthood. No one has to or should go without the blessings of the priesthood As a missionary in Nicaragua, I have gotten to know people of all colors who have been blessed by the priesthood. Show more Show less
