Hi I'm Janece

I grew up in Ohio, Florida, California and Utah. I've raised 4 children, been married 33 yrs and I love to do service.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of 4, and a grandmother of 5, soon to be 7 grandchildren. I went back to college in my 40's and earned a degree in Special Education. I love flowers, and I try to learn their names, I love planting them in my yard and seeing them in nature. I also enjoy reading, doing service, having my family over, going to church, being with friends, going on dates with my husband, cooking, and going to the temple.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth I was challenged to pray and find out for my self is Joseph Smith was truly a prophet. I took the challenge, I read, pondered and studied scriptures and church history. I prayed and asked God if Joseph Smith really was a prophet. After a sincere effort on my part, my prayers were answered. I received a witness that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that he had truly translated the Book of Mormon. I love the Book of Mormon. Each time I read it, I feel peace and comfort. I know it is scripture given to us to testify of Christ with the Bible. I love the Bible too. I love to read the stories of the ancient prophets and Jesus Christ. The scriptures are true and in them I find answers to my prayers and inspiration to be a better person.

How I live my faith

I find joy in service. I have served in our local congregation with the children, the youth and the women. My current calling has been in the Presidency of the church's organization for women. This has given me the opportunity to teach them, visit them when they are new to our congregation, had a baby, are going through hard times or need a friend. I've taken in meals, watched children, cleaned houses, and tried to uplift whenever and however I can. I have also tried to make our community a better place. I have served in PTA in a variety of positions from President to room mother for many years. I've served on school community councils and boundary committees. I have also worked with pageants helping prepare young women for interviews and becoming their best self. With each committee, and presidency I have learned there is power in being kind. Kindness does more good in the world than anything else. When I show genuine concern and interest in someone else I can make a difference. Showing love and concern as my Savior would is how I show my faith.
