Hi I'm Parker!

From Farmington, Utah. Now, in Southern California. In 2006 TIME Magazine named me the Person of the Year. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Parker Ballantyne. Everyone just calls me Pshark. In my free time I like to day dream about what I like to do in my free time. I'm a textbook stereotype and highly replaceable. My Heely's don't have brakes because my swag rides on forever. I was born and raised in Northern Utah and graduated from Viewmont High School. I am serving in the California Ventura mission and after this I am going to Utah State to watch some college basketball and boost my education. I don't know yet what I want to be when I grow up, but right now I'm thinking of becoming an astronaut. I, like many people, enjoy things. A few of those things include shoes, naps, adventures, snacks, hoodies, skateboarding, music, and sports. It would be cool if I could make music or play sports, but that just wasn't the hand I was dealt. I can probably balance on a curb longer than you can though. Family comes first. Bless up.

Why I am a Mormon

Teen angst hit me hard. Really hard. I thought everything was stupid. Especially stuff my parents thought was cool. After a while I told myself that if the church wasn't true, then I wasn't going to go on a mission and when I got off to college I was going to leave The Church, put the whole thing in the past, and pretend it never happened. Why waste my time on something fake? I figured I would stay involved with The Church throughout the rest of my high school years to appease my parents and because all my friends went to church so I could just hang with them. Then it started to bother me that everyone around me seemed to really like The Church and have super strong testimonies and I didn't. It bothered me that either nobody didn't see what I saw in The Church, or I couldn't see what they saw. Finally I decided if my parents were right about 80's music being cool, then maybe they could be right about The Church too. So I gave it a shot. I did what I was supposed to be doing all along. I wasn't going to find out if Joseph Smith was a prophet if I didn't do anything to find out. So I did something. I read the Book of Mormon. I prayed about it. I took church more seriously. Fast forward to the present. I am now serving mission, doing the exact thing I promised myself I wouldn't do if this church wasn't true. I guess I got my answer. Somewhere along the way I figured out that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the right church and is God's kingdom on the earth. I didn't find that out by accident, I had to go out and look for it, but I'm glad I did.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I'm not sure my lifestyle is the most characteristic of most members of the Church. My lifestyle is pretty laid back. Just looking for what makes me happy. A lot of hanging out with friends and family and just taking it easy and listening to music. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Life... The enormity and complexity of Outer Space... Cold pizza... Netflix... bubble wrap... peanut butter... The fact that I don't have a peanut allergy... In-n-out... The smell of grass on a baseball field... nature... when girls wear Vans sk8 hi's... 7-Eleven slurpees... The feeling I get when I quiet my mind and try to listen to Him... Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

It is true that Jesus Christ visited America. Just as true as any other recorded event in North American History. i.e. The American Revolution, the New York Mets winning the world Series in 1986, Kanye taking the mic from Taylor Swift at the VMA's, and Tony Hawk landing a 900. These things are all recorded in American History books, Christs visit to the Americas is too. It is called the Book of Mormon and it is true. Show more Show less
