Hi I'm Landon

I love eating, jumping off of cliffs, writing, and woodwork. I am a student, an actor, a Boy Scout and, of course, a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high school graduate planning to attend BYU after my mission. I enjoy camping most of all and I have worked at a Boy Scout camp for multiple years. My favorite activities are climbing and rappelling but I also enjoy long, peaceful hikes and sleeping under the stars. My hobbies include woodwork and basketry. I love to work with my hands and create beautiful yet useful things. Acting in school musicals has been another favorite pastime of mine. Finally, I enjoy writing poems and short stories. I am the second oldest of nine kids in my family, and we love playing board games together.

Why I am a Mormon

Nothing makes me more happy than following the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I testify that it is the true church of Christ on earth today and that it has been restored by the power of God through the prophet Joseph Smith. I have seen in my life most especially the power that its teachings and practices have to change the heart and enlighten the mind. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who continues to reveal His will to man. I bear witness of the power of personal revelation. Each of us can recieve answers for anything when we ask in faith. Nevertheless, I am also thankful for a living prophet who guides the church as a whole. My final testimony is of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Because He suffered all of our pains and afflictions as well as our sins, he knows perfectly how to succor His people. I know that He has been a source of comfort to me in many cases throughout my life, and I am therefore very grateful for the redemptive and healing power of the Atonement that has enabled me to have great joy even in the midst of mistakes and hardships. One thing I like most about the church is that it concentrates on our ability to learn and grow each day. Learning is of utmost importance. We don't just earn heaven through our choices, we must learn how to live in heaven. It makes life so much more fulfilling to know that this is our purpose here.

How I live my faith

I would like to think that I live my faith as most people do; by example. I just always try to be the best person I can be in any situation. I am definitely not a perfect person, but I live the standards of the church and that brings me great joy. I pray every morning and evening and read the scriptures each night. I go to church each Sunday and attend the temple regularly as well. The House of the Lord is such a holy and refreshing place and I am so blessed to have one of His temples so close to my house. In addition, I have recently received my mission call to Germany where it will be my pleasure to preach the gospel for two years. This is a wonderful opportunity for many reasons, but the best part will be serving the people I meet there. Through love and understanding, I will be able to share my beliefs with others and come closer to Christ myself.
