Hi I'm Cleve

I grew up in Palmyra, New York. I want to be a Doctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from high school in May of 2016. I am an Eagle Scout and proud member of the Order of the Arrow. I am preparing to serve a full-time LDS mission starting in October of 2016 in Brazil. I enjoy playing a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and tennis. I also love to play chess and other strategic board games. As a late 90's child, I also have a deep love for Pokemon. I have been in a variety of musicals and plays in high school. I don't really have any one particular hobby or interest that I'm really good at or invested in. I try to live my life in a way that I am always trying and learning new things and skills. I love to sing, although I'm not very good, and I enjoy beat-boxing. I'm still applying to colleges and I'm undecided concerning where I want to go after my mission. Basically I'm just that guy that is not really good or bad at anything, but does everything neutrally. :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to believe in a God that lives, a God that specifically loves me, and a God that I can have a close relationship with. I choose to hope for things promised, and I choose to hope for life after death. I do not believe in a God that would condemn an individual for living their life in a way that uplifts and serves others. I believe that this church outlines ideals that can prepare me for anything that comes after this life. I want to leave this world knowing that I did all that I could to serve others, that I carried a clean conscience, that if there is indeed a God, I have done all that I can to be as worthy as I can be to look Him in the eyes. It is my firm belief that you cannot go wrong by living LDS or Mormon ideals. Regardless of what comes after this life, I am comfortable leaving this world, and that is why I believe that being Mormon is the best course of action in this life. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who I believe to be my savior and redeemer, amen. :)

How I live my faith

I have been a proud cast member of the Hill Cumorah Pageant for seven years. The Hill Cumorah Pageant is an LDS performance portraying many major Book of Mormon stories that takes place in Palmyra, New York, in July of each year. I attend church every Sunday and as I prepare to serve a mission I try to attend the temple and the nearby church sites as often as I can. I am really blessed to live in this area of New York, the United States, and the world. :)

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Cleve
Not only did the restoration restore the whole truth, and bring the pieces of Christianity into a church with a complete understanding under Jesus Christ, the restoration restored questions. Before the restoration, we lived in a time where somehow all things could be discovered by reading from the Bible and interpreting it for ourselves. Oh, you wonder something about God and religion? You'll find an answer somewhere in the doctrine of the Bible. Although it is possible to find answers there, the whole ability to ask questions was not present before the restoration. So, what made it possible to REALLY ask questions? Another Testament of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon, was restored to the earth to expand the ideals taught in the Bible, and more importantly, we once again received the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost answers questions, and the Holy Ghost is the real teacher. So, when we received the Holy Ghost through the restoration, we gained the ability to ask questions and receive personal revelation in the form of answers. The restoration was needed to restore questions to the earth. Questions that could be asked in faith. Questions that could be answered, only through the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
