Hi I'm Marianne Howe

I am a home maker, wife, mother and grandmother. I love spending time with my family. I am Mormon.

About Me

I was raised on a farm, the seventh child of nine. I earned my associate degree in business. I am the mother of eight children. I enjoy cooking and sewing.

Why I am a Mormon

Like Nephi in the Book of Mormon, I was born of "goodly Parents" who took my siblings and I to church each week. Raising a family on a small farm was not easy but they taught us children the values of hard work, living within our means, service and honesty to name a few. What we lacked in monetary things, we received in spiritual things. Because of big raised in the church, I feel I have been able to avoid many of the pitfalls in life such as habit forming substances. To me the church is not just a Sunday activity; it is a way of life. I love the teaching of our Articles of Faith which tell us God is the Father of our spirits; Jesus Christ is our elder spirit brother and the only person who can atone for our sins if we truly repent and of the Holy Ghost are separate individuals. Our Church has the same organization as the church at the time of Jesus. Our Heavenly Father continues to reveal things to living prophets just like in biblical times. There are many other things taught through this document. The priesthood which is the power to act for God here on earth, is given to worthy male members and can be traced back to Jesus Christ when he ordained Adam. It is not something earned by a college degree. These are some of the reasons I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings in the church from working with nursery age children, teenagers and adults. I have served as a volunteer EMT for 35 years. I enjoy helping other people.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Marianne Howe
Mormons baptize their new members because we believe that we must be baptized by one having priesthood authority. This is the example Jesus showed when he was baptized by John the Baptist who had the priesthood power. We are baptized by immersion symbolizing the washing away of sins. It is also showing our willingness to take upon us the sacred covenant to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
