Hi I'm Samuel McKinnon

I'm excited to be serving a mission in Macon Georgia! I love playing piano and building robots. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew in the desert half of Washington State by the Columbia River. I have three younger sisters and I love my family. I've been playing Piano for twelve years, and I have been involved with a lot of robotics teams over the years. I just finished high school and hope to put my robotics skills to the test in college. My faith in Jesus Christ is the most important thing in my life to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have parents who never let us go to bed without reading from the scriptures as a family. Before I was born, my parents decided that we would read from the Book of Mormon everyday as a family. I have read from the Book of Mormon everyday of my life. I distinctly remember my first time finishing the Book of Mormon; I was 10 years old. That very night I kneeled in my bed and prayed to Heavenly Father to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I remember immediately feeling the Holy Ghost telling me that book was true. I have never been able to deny that confirmation of truth sense. My happiness, well being, ability to make friends, getting along with family members, knowledge of spiritual and secular things, all improved the more I studied the scriptures. I don’t understand how something as simple as daily scripture study could change my life so much, but the blessings of scripture study in my life are a witness to me of the truthfulness of this church. I have now read through the entire standard works, and am working on what will be my sixth time reading through the Book of Mormon. My belief in Jesus Christ and his Kingdom is rooted in a deep love and understanding of the scriptures, and I am grateful for Joseph Smith who put all of these scriptures into our hands. I'm a Mormon because as I follow the teachings in the Bible and Book of Mormon feel happiness, peace, and hope that is unparalleled anywhere else in this world.

How I live my faith

The biggest part of living my faith has always been being open and willing to talk about my beliefs with my friends. I strive to be an example of my religon so that people will recognize mormons for the good people we are. In church I help people with their family history work, I visit ward members on my home teaching route, and I have blessed the sacrament for the congregation as an aaronic priesthood holder. In high school I took seminary classes so I could learn more about Jesus Christ. Right now I am serving a mission in Macon Georgia! I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to be serve the Lord full time.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Samuel McKinnon
I love the Book of Mormon because it brings me closer to Jesus Christ. Together with the Bible, the Book of Mormon commands all men to have faith, repent, and keep God's commandments. Rather than replacing the Bible, the Book of Mormon is another witness to the World that Jesus Christ loves us infinitely, and that the greatest happiness and peace available in this life comes though him. That being said, the Book of Mormon is a record of a people in the American continent, and the stories of the societies, peoples, and prophets as they obeyed or disobeyed the commandments of God. Anyone who reads the Book of Mormon can know of it's truth by praying to Heavenly Father with a humble heart. Show more Show less
