Hi I'm Heber

I enjoy playing basketball and golf as well as the guitar and piano. I love my family and friends and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just a regular guy honestly; I have a loving mom and dad, two younger brothers and a younger sister. I recently graduated from high school and I have a job at a tire store. I love playing sports. I've played golf my whole life and picked up the game of basketball during my freshman year of high school. In my free time, I like to play the guitar or the piano. I plan on attending college when I return from my mission, but have not yet decided what I would like to study.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a home with a mother and a father who both had firm testimonies of the gospel. They taught me about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ without forcing me to attend church and continue to do so to this day. I am a Mormon because I want to be; because I believe that this is God's true church on the Earth today and that Jesus Christ suffered and died for me and for you, so that we all can repent and return to live with him again. I believe that the priesthood power and authority of God was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and that the ordinances administered by that power enable us to live with our families eternally. I know for myself that this church is the only church that contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is why I am a Mormon

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example. In the second chapter of the book of James, verse 14 says, "What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?" There are many people who believe that faith is all that is required of us to achieve salvation, but I firmly believe that faith is an action word and that we should not only place our faith in Jesus Christ, but show that faith by trying our hardest to live as he did. I personally have done this by exercising my faith in my savior by showing my willingness to serve him in the mission field. I will be serving in the California Modesto Mission and am ecstatic at the wonderful opportunity I've been blessed with.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Missionaries proselyte to share the message of Jesus Christ with those who want to hear it. It is similar to when one sees a good movie or hears a good song; they want to share it and talk about it with anyone they meet. We believe that the message of our Savior is one that all should hear, thus we have missionaries in all parts of the world sharing the joyful and happy message of Jesus Christ to his children. Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve missions. Prophets have told us that every worthy and able young man should serve a mission. It's not required of anyone, but we believe that as we give our time and our efforts to the Lord through missionary service, we receive blessings in turn. Missionary service is purely voluntary; missionaries generally serve for a period of two years and are asked to fund their mission with their own resources, but in cases where this is not possible, the mission is funded by donations from other members of the church.
