Hi I'm Tyler P. Smith

I grew up in Orange County, CA. I am serving a mission in Indonesia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I will be serving a mission in the Indonesia Jakarta Mission from 2016 - 2018. I am also a 4-year Seminary Graduate. I graduated from high school top 8% of my class. I will be attending BYU in the fall of 2018. When I was 15 years old, I earned my rank of Eagle Scout. In high school, I ran cross country and track for 3 years. I was also involved in various clubs such as MUN for 3 years and ASB my Junior and Senior year. My Senior Year, I was crowned Homecoming King and won the school Dodgeball tournament on our team called the 'Stormin Mormons'. I also represented the k-12 students while serving as the 2015-2016 Student Member on the SVUSD School Board of Education. In my free time, I love to go to the beach, mountain bike, and really just get outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I have absolutely love being a Mormon. It has held me strong to standards throughout grade school and has brought so much happiness into my life. I have decided to serve a mission to spread the most wonderful message in the world. The chance to make sacred covenants, live a life closer to our Heavenly Father, live with our family for eternity, and progress towards our perfect potential. I know who I am and I am forever indebted to serving my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Everyday I continue to strive to be more like Jesus Christ who was the ultimate example of love, service, and sacrifice. Christ sacrificed his life so that mankind may live again. I know that reading the Book of Mormon, Bible, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price will bring us closer to God and spiritually enlighten our souls with the Spirit of God. I know this gospel to be true.

How I live my faith

In the past I have served as a Youth Group Leader, hometeacher, and Boy Scout Patrol Leader. I have given several talks in church and gave a speech at Seminary Graduation which was very well received. Our Stormin' Mormon Dodgeball team was an amazing experience with seeing the acceptance others had for our mormon faith. My twin brother and I were the only Mormons on the team of 6; however, all of us would dress up in 'Missionary Attire' at every game. This experience taught me to embrace my faith and despite the fact that only 10 of 2800 students are Mormon, I should never be ashamed to represent Christ's church and his perfect gospel. Every calling I have been given has been an outstanding growing experience concerning public speaking and understanding others. I have grown so much in all my opportunities to lead and serve others and am excited for what the future has in store.
