Hi I'm Brenden

I've lived in Utah for a long time. I'm leaving on a mission to manchester england. I try to learn all I can. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The first thing i think i could say about myself is that I love to learn about almost everything. Anything from music, to science, and from knots, to history. I would say I'm very enthusiastic about science. I especially like chemistry and want to go into nanotechnology. I'm also really into music. I learned the piano in elementary school and have since learned how to play the trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, upright bass, mandolin, and harmonica. I love band and have played in symphonies, marching, and Jazz bands. It's because of my love of learning that I am excited to serve a mission. Not only do I get to learn a new language (Chinese,) but i also get to learn so much about the gospel. To me, learning is a way for me to gain understanding.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel to start off. I was even born in an LDS hospital. Initially I followed the gospel because it was what I grew up with. Growing up though, I have had several occasions where I have deeply thought about my faith. I didn't want to believe just because I had grown up with it. I started to read more in the scriptures and learn more about the gospel. I received spiritual conformation about two very specific topics. God does exist and he loves us, and that Christ Atoned for our sins and we can be made clean through him. I have received a testimony of these principals and many others through out my life.

How I live my faith

I like to live my faith by service. I love the priesthood because it is a way God can bless others through me. The scriptures teach that serving others is a way of serving God (Mosiah 2:17.) I love to do things for others, weather it is holding the door open, or yard work for those who can't do their own. Temple work is another form of service that I love to do. Overall, service brings me closer to God.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Brenden
The Atonement was when Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for the sins of the world. No one can enter into Heaven without being clean. Because everyone sins, everyone needs to be cleansed. However, no one can pay the price for their own sins. This is where Christ comes in. Christ was the only one capable of paying the price and suffering for our sins. Because of this, people can take advantage of the atonement through priesthood ordinances, and be cleansed of their sins. Show more Show less
