Hi I'm Tyler Goertzen

I was born in Utah. I love music, and I love the Lord. I am serving my mission in South Carolina, Columbia. Oh, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently a missionary in South Carolina. I love to sing, and all other forms of music. Other than that I am just a regular dude. I was adopted when I was 6, so that's kind of interesting. I have 10 siblings, one younger, and 8 older. I love my family, and I love being a missionary. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Church is true. God loves us, and he is our Father. He wants more than anything for us to come back to him, and that's what I want for all of you too. The Gospel of Jesus Christ will make you happy, happier than you've ever been, and I know with true conviction, that it is the Good News. The good news, that we can truly be cleansed from our sins. The good news that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, and that he was resurrected. That day, all of our lives changed, because we could live with our Heavenly Father again. Through Jesus Christ we are literally saved. That's why it's called the Plan of Salvation. It is truly the only way to get back to God, and to become like him.

How I live my faith

I try to apply my faith into every aspect of my life. Right now it's easy because I'm a missionary, and faith is necessary. I live my faith by choosing the right. I read my scriptures, and pray daily, I attend church every week, and I share my beliefs. I try to do things out of a sincere love for God, my Savior, and others. I love my family, I love all of Gods children, I love Jesus Christ, and I love my Heavenly Father

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Tyler Goertzen
Family is so important to us for one simple reason. We believe and know that we are all part of Gods family. We've had a family eons before our own remmbrance of anything like that. God has placed in families for a reason, and that reason is to come closer to him. When we see the love that our families have for us, it brings us closer to realizing the eternal love that God has for us. We love because he has first loved us. Family is divinely appointed by God to bless our lives. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Tyler Goertzen
Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God. He received a vision of God the Father and his son Jesus Christ at the tender age of 14. He was the first prophet in the latter days, and he restored Christ's true church to the earth. He was humble, and teachable. He went through many trials, but still stood unshaken in his faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He received a lot of revelation from God on how the church needed to be organized and run, and he acted upon that revelation. He translated the Book of Mormon into English which is such a blessing for all of us. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Tyler Goertzen
The restoration of the gospel was necessary because as before the children of God had fallen into apostasy. Apostasy is a time when the people that God has placed on the earth reject the words of His holy prophets. A pattern of apostasy is very apparent throughout the bible starting with Adam, and ending with Jesus Christ. After the crucifixion of Christ the people hunted down and killed his apostles, the people fell into apostasy yet again. We know from the bible that God in unchanging. He has always used prophets, and always will use prophets to lead and guide his people. And he did that same thing yet again in the year 1820 with the 14 year old, Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Tyler Goertzen
The missionaries always share a message involving Jesus Christ. They talk about how Jesus Christs true church was restored. They never come to tear down another persons faith, but only to build upon the faith that they have. They teach of how much God loves his children, and some of the blessings that we can share, and want to share with the world. They will share personal experiences, ask questions, and invite you to do things that they know will bring you closer to your Heavenly Father. They will share their love for you, and their desire to help you. Through the missionaries you will be able to understand just how true the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is, and how happy it can make you. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Tyler Goertzen
Yes, I believe very strongly that there is a prophet on the earth today. It's revealed through the book of Amos, and the book of Ephesians that 1) He will do nothing save He reveal it unto a prophet who is his servant (Amos 3:7) , and 2) The church of Jesus Christ is, and should be built upon apostles and prophets with Christ himself as the chief corner stone (Ephesians 2:19-20). It makes perfect sense to me that God loves us enough to not be silent, but to continue to give us his word. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Tyler Goertzen
Families can be together forever. This is the most beautiful truth of the Gospel. We have all been members of Gods family, and we will always be members of His family. He finds great joy in His family, and He loves us all so very much. He wants us to experience the same joy He has found through His family, and so He has given us families, not just earthly families, but He wants us to experience the glory of being in a family, and having a family for all of eternity. What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Tyler Goertzen
A typical service is three hours long, and is divided into three different sections. First, we have what we call a sacrament meeting. Sacrament meeting consists of hymns, speakers, prayers, and most importantly, the sacrament. it is very important for us to partake of the sacrament, or communion every single week, to help us do our best in the week to come, and remember our Savior. The next hour is Sunday School, which is a class where both genders are present, but you are divided up by age group. And you spend an hour learning about principles, and teachings of the gospel. The next hour you divide, and the men will break up into age groups., and the women will as well. Then you spend an hour focusing on how you can be better husbands, wives, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and so on. It is one of the most enriching three hours of my week, and I believe attending church is the best thing you can do on a Sunday. Visitors are always welcome, and we encourage you to attend with us, and worship our God with us. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Tyler Goertzen
The word of Wisdom is a revelation given to Joseph Smith regarding our bodies, and how we can keep them pure, healthy, and holy. It consists of warnings, encouragement, and promised blessings, and it is found in Doctrine and Covenants section 89. It warns us to stay away from Alcohol, Drugs, Tobacco, Coffee and Tea. It encourages us to eat healthy and take care of our bodies. Finally, it promises us that if we follow it we will have increased wisdom and knowledge, and a sound mind. We are promised that we will be able to run and not be weary, and to walk and not faint. And we are promised that the destroying angel will pass us by. I know these promises are true, and this is inspired revelation to a prophet of God, but don't just take my word for it. Try it out for yourself, and see if it really is. I promise as you do, you will feel these blessings come to life for you, and you will gain your own testimony that this is inspired. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Tyler Goertzen
I have had so many witnesses that God does exist, and many experiences with Him. The earth itself and the creation stand as a witness that there is a Master. There is someone who created it all. Most of all, I know God is real because I have taken a leap of faith, I have asked in prayer. Even as I was praying I had doubts about His reality, but the Holy Ghost filled me, and I can tell you today that I do know for a fact that God is real. Show more Show less
