Hi I'm Tom

I was born and raised in Tooele, Utah. I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I have always been a member of the Church but I became inactive while in high school. I spent two years in the US Army which included a year in Viet Nam. Two years later, I married a wonderful woman who was converted to the Mormon Church while a teenager. She taught me alot about the gospel and we were later sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple. Together we have five children and 20 grandchildren who constantly bring us much joy. I am so thankful that she helped bring the gospel back into my life and made me realize that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can all be forgiven of our sins and be given the opportunity to live with Him after this life as eternal families. I retired from Civil Service after 35 years as an Auditor and Financial Manager and also was the Finance Director for Grantsville City for four years. After my wife passed away in July of 2015, I was blessed to be married to a wondrful woman that I had known during my entire married life. We immediately became best of friends and are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together. She has two children and four grandchildren that I now get to enjoy and watch them grow.I am looking forward to serving as a Missionary with her to share our tesimonies and experiences with others. This is something that I've wanted to do for a long time and now I will get that opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

As stated before, I was born and raised in the Church. My parents always taught my siblings and me gospel principles and encouraged us to attend meetings and pray to our Heavenly Father. My oldest brother served a mission to England and my sister was married in the Salt Lake Temple. As a teenager, I chose friends that were either non members or were totally inactive. I knew that something was missing in my life but chose not to act on it for several years. When I met the woman that would later become my wife, I started attending LDS meetings with her and soon found happiness that I had been searching for but had not yet experienced. I gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints through personal prayer and serving others in various callings. I am proud to be a Mormon and I am excited to serve as a missionary along with my new wife to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

During the last 45 years, I have had many ward and stake callings that helped strengthen my testimony. One of my favorite callings was when I was called as a Stake High Councilor. My assignments were to be the Stake Young Mens' President and Stake young womens' Advisor. I really enjoyed being involved with the youth while watching them embrace the spirit of our Heavenly Father. Many of them later served as missionaries and expressed their gratitude to their church leaders who set a proper example for them and taught them the importance of serving a full time mission. I am thankful that I will now get the opportunity and privelage to serve among adults and youth. I pray that I will set a proper example for them to follow.
