Hi I'm Karen Torres

I grew up in South Carolina and was born in Mexico. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a BYU-I college student, majoring in Biology. I will soon be serving a misson in the Bakersfield, California Mission, Spanish speaking. I love to work out and eat mint chocolate chip ice cream. I want to become a wife, mother, and a dental hygienist one day. I love the gospel so much. I love the temple. I love my cat and my family. I like to clean, hike, swim, and serve. My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice, my favorite music artists are the Cranberries and the Arctic Monkeys, and my favorite movies are Youv'e Got Mail and the Harry Potter series.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe in the full and restored truth of this gospel because I have felt it. I am happy, so very happy because of this gospel. It has allowed me to become a better human being that can strive to one day become something more, it has allowed me to grow closer to my Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ, and it has allowed me to enjoy blessings I never thought I could. I can honestly say, even though life gets extremely hard and temptations are every where, I live a life of joy, peace, and fulfillment. My life feels complete because my Savior's love and guidance is sometimes the only thing I need and feel like I have. It is not only a comfort to never feel alone, but to never feel scared of my future. Sometimes the present is very scary, but I know the future will be better because I know god loves me and has a plan for me. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living my life and making daily choices out of my devotion and love for my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I try to be as clean from sin as I can by keeping all of God's commandments, in order to become like and obey my Savior. I try to progress every single day spiritually by reading and pondering scriptures daily, praying to the Creator daily, and exercising faith in Christ daily. I try to serve in my ward in my church by serving and planning activites for the women of my ward. These activites help us grow closer to eachother, and I also am called to be a leader in Family Home Evening, which means every Monday, I plan activities for my FHE group to do. There are two leaders, a male of one apartment in the ward, and a female of another apament in the ward. Those two apartments practice Family Home Evening to prepare for individual future families and they have a spiritual uplifting message in the beginning, and then bonding activities afterwards. My responsibility is to coordinate, assign the message, and to plan these FHE's.
