Hi I'm Dawn

I am amazed at all of God's creations! My favorite time of day is "dawn," I thank Heavenly Father for each new day!

About Me

I am a mother, a grandmother and a budding artist. I am continually inspired by the grandeur of this world. Someday I want to be able to capture the colors of the sky as the sun rises over the mountain or the immense beauty of the sun setting over the ocean. When I see Heavenly Father's creations and think he made it all for me, I am humbled.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon. I love Heavenly Father and appreciate so much the sacrifice his Son made for each of us. When I was about 18 years old, I decided that I needed to know for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true. So I studied the Bible and looked for the teachings of Christ. I looked at how He organized his church. I loved the testimonies of people who walked and talked with Jesus. I was so touched at how many people he blessed and healed! I thought, if the Church was true then it would be just like the one Christ organized while he was on the earth. The Mormon Church is organized the same way as the ancient church that Christ set up! The teachings are the teachings of Christ! The power Christ used to heal the people of their infirmities has been restored. There are 12 Apostles, and a living Prophet upon the Earth today! One day I decided to read the entire Book of Mormon and ask God if it was true! I decided that I would pray before I started to read. I loved the words of the Book of Mormon. I felt a great peace and happiness as I read of those who testified of Christ, just like the Bible. After a time I thought I need to ask God if this book is true. Did it really happen? When I finished reading that day, I knelt down and with a pleading heart asked if the Book of Mormon was of God. I remember still today the warm feeling that overcame my body. It was as the sun coming through the window and warming me all over, even though the room was cool. I had the most wonderful experience as the Holy Spirit came over me and testified that the words in the Book of Mormon are sacred! Now, I knew for myself! and that is why I am a Mormon! You should study it out and then ask God if it is true. Don't get your answers from anyone but God. You can know it too. It is true and has blessed my life in many ways.

How I live my faith

I love the Savior and want to show him by serving him in many ways I volunteered to help children learn to read at the school. I am a cub scout leader. I love to teach the youth in Sunday School and our young women group age 14-16. I check on my neighbors often to see how they are doing? I love visiting the sick and helping where I can see a need. When I first moved into our neighbor hood I met a friend who had a beautiful watercolor painting on her wall. She told me that she had painted it. I asked if she would be willing to teach me to paint. She said that she took lessons with a friend up the street from me and thought maybe she would like to paint again. Later she told me that there was a lady who was a very good artist. We asked if she would like to join us for a once a week painting day. This neighbor had a son who died of cancer a couple of years earlier and she was suffering because he left a wife, two small children and two grieving parents. She told us that she had taken her paints out several times but there was no inspiration. She was hollow inside. We invited her to come and teach us everything she knew. She accepted and said that our painting class saved her life, it gave her a reason to paint again. Then, we had a new neighbor move in around the corner. We found out that she liked to paint. So my friend invited her to come paint with us. She accepted and together the five of us laugh and talk and paint. We all have our challenges and health concerns but through our painting class we help buoy up one another. So we have decided to call it "therapy time together". We are of different faiths but we all love the Savior and realize His help in our lives. We have become close friends as well as learning and improving our talents! We are therapy sisters walking with Christ and painting His marvelous creations, all while counting our blessings.
