Hi I'm Kiana

I grew up in Alaska. I love crafting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love horseback riding and all things country. I enjoy crafting (sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, you name it!). Growing up in Alaska offers so many wonderful opportunities to explore the great outdoors, which I love! I also love reading and could do it all day! Traveling is another of my hobbies, though much more expensive. I have been to England and Scotland and loved every minute of it! I have been to half of the states in the U.S., and I'd like to eventually say I've been to them all.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I love Christ! Being a Mormon is more than being a part of a religion, it is being a part of Christ's family. Every single one of us is a precious and beloved child of God, but as we are converted to the gospel of Christ, we become the children of Christ through rebirth (or baptism). I am a Mormon because I believe in the Savior and in His love for me. The hope and joy I receive as I learn more about this Church leads me to know that this is the true Church of Christ. I was born into the Church (which means my parents were already members when I was born), but I have been converted unto Christ as many others have been. I have gained my own knowledge and testimony about the power of Christ's Atonement in my life. It has allowed me to be made clean, despite continually making mistakes. We are human and are therefore bound to mess up. The Atonement (or suffering) of Jesus Christ for our sins can cleanse us and make us pure again. I love having a prophet again on the earth in modern days. It makes sense that if Christ's Church in the Bible (and the Book of Mormon) had prophets to lead, then we should have one today as well. That prophet (currently) is President Thomas S. Monson. He leads and guides this Church today by the power and authority of Jesus Christ Himself. President Monson is the mouthpiece of God on earth. I have a testimony of the prophet's role in the Church, for I know he is directly led by Heavenly Father. I am a Mormon because I want to be. I chose to be baptized when I was 8 years old because I wanted to follow the example of Christ. I am a Mormon because I know this is God's plan for me. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am about to be a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I'll be speaking Spanish and serving in the San Diego, California area! I will be sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with people from all over. I will help them grow their faith and recognize the power of Christ's love. I go to Church every Sunday. I love attending the meetings we have because I receive so much insight and hope! My faith is strengthened, and my testimony grows weekly as I listen to the messages of the speakers and teachers. After years of being in the youth group at Church, I've been able to be a leader and a follower. I've served in the community doing all sorts of things such as trash cleanup, clearing grave sites, and working to gather gifts for children at a women's shelter. As a leader among the youth, I was charged to teach lessons and help others come closer to Christ. I also served as a Family History Consultant. This means that I help others, both members and non-members, do their family history work! I guide them through the steps to find names of ancestors and link them together in the computer system the Church has set up. Family history work is so important and connects us with our past in a unique way that nothing else can. Helping others find their ancestors helped me to grow in desire to find out more about where I came from.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Kiana
For me, I see God in everything. The very breath in my lungs is a witness to me that God is there. He loves me, and I feel His love for me whenever I pray. I also know He is there when I hear a song I love (sometimes it's a country song), do an activity I enjoy (horseback riding), or maybe it's when I find a dress/shirt/pants I like. These things witness to me that there is a God who loves me because of the joy I feel when they happen. Feelings of joy and happiness and love come from God. When I find a new hobby I love, I know it is God showing me another one of my talents. You too can know there is a God when you pray and ask Him for an opportunity to recognize His hand in your life. Is there something you couldn't live without? A pet? Books? Hiking? Those are in your life because God wants you to be happy, and He knows those will make you happy. There is a God who knows and loves you. He is there. All you have to do is believe. Show more Show less
