Hi I'm Garrett Franklin

I'm from Utah, I'm serving a mission in Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am 18 years old and I am serving my mission in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I LOVE being outdoors, especially in the mountains. I love hiking, hammocking, rock climbing, camping and fishing. Anything you can do with some friends up in the mountains, I'm down for it! Scary movies are a must, as well as sports. I love getting all my friends together and playing some basketball or backyard football. When I'm not outside or playing sports, I am usually hanging out with my friends. We love going up American Fork canyon and having a campfire, or watching movies from our trucks. We also get snow cones almost every day, and usually follow that up with some Netflix. My favorite part about my friends is that we can always find something to do, and I never have to worry about it being dangerous or contrary to my values or what the church teaches. I can't do very much of this right now since I'm on my mission, but I was definitely willing to give it all up to come out and serve the Lord for 2 years!

Why I am a Mormon

I've been going to church since as long as I can remember. My parents are both LDS and raised me in the standards and truths of the gospel. But that's not the reason why I'm a Mormon. At first I was definitely going to church because I knew that's what my parents wanted me to do. I knew they believed, and I looked up to them, so I wanted to believe too. But there came a time where I realized that I would have to decide whether I really believed what my parents believed. So I decided to do as the prophets of the scriptures teach; pray. So at the age of 12 I knelt by my bed and asked my Heavenly Father if he was really there, and if the church was true. I had a distinct thought pop into my head, "Garrett you already know." God answered my prayer, by confirming what I already knew to be true. From that point in my life, I've worked to gain a personal testimony of each principle of the gospel, and as I've done this my faith and knowledge have grown. I can now say that I personally know that this is Christ's church. God lives, Christ lives, and I have a personal relationship with them. Being a Mormon isn't like belonging to a club or a group, it's a commitment to seek a personal relationship with God, and follow his teachings. As I've done this, I've truly found happiness, and now I just want to share it with others.

How I live my faith

The way I like to live my faith is by following the teachings of Jesus Christ. I try my best to put my faith into action by attending church, serving others, and studying the teachings of Christ. I love to spend my time in the scriptures, the word of God. Through the scriptures I learn about ways I can better follow Christ, and how I can find more happiness through personal improvement. The scriptures inspire me to be better, someone more like Christ. I live my faith by applying what I learn in the scriptures and at church to better serve Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father!
