Hi I'm Samuel Johnson

I have lived in Star Valley Wyoming my entire life. I have just graduated high school, and am very excited to be serving in Brazil

About Me

I like to believe I'm a nice guy haha. I absolutely love to sing. My favorite thing in high school was being in the show choir. I love love love music. Music with good lyrics and a good beat that uplifts people. My favorite band as an example is Imagine Dragons. When I'm not singing or listening to music I am with my best friends. I love to socialize with others and to just be around my friends. When I'm not with my friends my next favorite thing to do is be a couch potato in front of video games and netflix. I am also a huge soccer junkie. I played all four years in high school and loved every second of it. Since everyone in my family have obtained bachelors to master degrees in education, I will probably go into being a teacher after my mission. I have been called to serve in Juiz De Fora Brazil. And I am... so so so excited. This gospel means everything to me, and I cannot wait to be surrounded in this gospel for two years. My father served in Brazil and my brother learned Portuguese on his mission, so I am so excited to learn Portuguese with them. The hardest thing about serving my mission will be leaving my family. When it comes to family I will be a baby when I leave them. My brother is my best friend. I am a huge nerd when it comes to movies since I have seen probably most of them. Except for all the rated R ones of course. I cannot wait to have my testimony strengthened these next two years, and to eat gallons upon gallons of rice and beans. I love this gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon... Honestly and simply because this church is true. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed and gained the truth that it is true. From going to church every week I have gained the testimony that the church is true. From going to General Conference I have gained the testimony that our prophet is the true prophet called by God. I know that Heavenly Father watches over me and guides me. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for me. I love this church and I am so grateful that it is in my life.

How I live my faith

In Star Valley many people are mormon. So at school I have many friends who respect my beliefs and values. All of the non LDS people know who we are, and what our values are. This makes it very sad when quite a few mormons at my school don't follow those values. This makes the non LDS kids think our religion can't be true if hardly no one follows its teachings. With that in mind I have tried always to be a good example. Sadly, Im not perfect and I have messed up lots of times. But I will keep trying to show that I know this church is true. I go to church and the activities every week. At church I was the president of deacons quorum, 1st counselor of teachers quorum, and president of priests quorum. That sounds pretty awesome, but there is only one other boy my age haha. My priesthood group has given countless hours of service. This includes both of our eagle projects that lasted days. Now as I am about to go on my mission I am going to singles ward. It is... interesting. I have been a home teacher with my dad ever since I was 10 years old.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Samuel Johnson
Looking at how much faith you do not have already sets you up for failure. It doesn't matter about the size of your faith. Heavenly Father doesn't judge us by our size of faith. What does matter is if we stick to the faith we do have. We hold to that faith and never let go. If we do that, if we go through every challenge, every doubt, only using our faith we will be blessed. God will help us as we do this. Nephi 3:7 says "And it came to pass that I, Nephi said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." If we doubt or doubts and continue with faith, that is how our faith will grow. Like a muscle, faith requires us to use it in order to strengthen it. Remember, hold to the faith you do have and keep moving forward. Show more Show less
