Hi I'm Alex

I've lived in five states. I love sports, math, and music. I want to become a Mechanical Engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who is about to take a two year leave of absence to serve the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In school, I love math in science, which is basically why I'm going into Mechanical Engineering. I'm also a big Star Wars fan and know all sorts of useless facts about the films and their production (I don't know a whole lot about the TV series or books however). I like sports and play basketball quite a lot, and I follow a lot of the big leagues and events. I have moved with my family quite a lot in my life, but every single one of those moves has been a good experience. I've also gotten into fence-building the past couple of summers and have done work on my family's property as well as neighboring properties.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, and so were my parents and their parents and their parents. But the decision to be Mormon has been ultimately mine, no one forces me to do anything. What really holds my faith together is my testimony of the Book of Mormon. It is the most true book of any ever written in history. I know this because of an undeniable assuring feeling I gained after reading it and praying about it. It wasn't an extremely intense experience. But somehow, every time I read the book's pages, I am certain it is true. And because of that, I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and that there are also prophets on the earth today, that guide the restored church of Jesus Christ. The only choices I have are to deny what I feel and know to be true or to continue to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Currently with the church, I work with the full-time missionaries and other leaders of the congregation to help teach and/or find people to teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ along with helping people who may be struggling in their lives. I have previously helped people in doing family history work. I would help them submit information about their ancestors online in hopes of finding a link to an indexed record of that person. Personally, I live my faith by small, consistent daily actions, like reading scriptures, praying, and writing in my journal to see how God has blessed me throughout every single day.
