Hi I'm Alyssa

I grew up in Utah and I am now serving as a full-time missionary and representative of Christ in the Armenia, Yerevan mission.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and have attended one year of college. I'm majoring in Exercise Science and then hoping to continue on to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Because of my love for the piano and choral singing I am planning to minor in music as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know this gospel is true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I know that it truly is another testament of Christ that compliments the Bible. Reading this book helps me to better understand my Savior and the endless love that He has for all of His children, no matter where they live. For centuries, prophets of the Book of Mormon foretold His coming and the signs that would precede it. The Book of Mormon tells the story of how these prophecies and signs were fulfilled, and that Christ did come to Earth, and did visit more of His children in the Americas. This gospel brings so much happiness, purpose, and hope to my life. I love that I believe in the doctrine that families can be together eternally. I love that I believe in a God who cares deeply about me and my life individually. I love the peace that this gospel brings to me as I put my trust in a higher power who knows far more than I do. I'm a Mormon because I have seen the fruits of this church and they are good. I'm a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Spirit confirm to me that this is Christ's church restored to the Earth. I'm a Mormon because I know this gospel is true and it makes me happy.

How I live my faith

In my ward currently I am called as a Family History Consultant. This means that I use the church's genealogy website (www.familysearch.org) to do research on my ancestors. I attend an hour long class every Sunday as part of church in order to learn more about the site and assist others in finding records about their ancestors as well. Once we have found family names, we then take those names to our temples to perform ordinances for those that have passed on. In addition to this calling, I have also made the decision to serve as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was called to serve in the Armenia, Yerevan mission and I will be speaking Georgian. I will enter the Missionary Training Center and there I will begin my language studies. After a couple months, I will fly out to Armenia and I will remain there for the rest of my mission (approximately 16 months.) The purpose of my mission will be to invite the people I meet to come unto Christ and get to know Him better. During this time, I will only be able to contact friends and family through email one hour a week. Choosing to serve a mission is a sacrifice as I will be leaving behind everything and everyone I love and moving halfway around the world. However, I personally made this decision with the aid of my Father in Heaven and I am excited to devote my life to serving Christ.
