Hi I'm Ashley Applegate

I grew up in New Mexico. I love to read, write and sing. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I feel like I've been defined by the books I've read throughout my life. Reading books is one of my greatest joys. I've been at college for two years now and I've just been collecting more and more of them. Soon there's going to be too many and I'm never going to be able to move apartments again. I love to sing, it's how I best express myself. I love to write. I'm much better at it than I am at talking. I am a daughter and a sister to one brother and sister here on this earth and one brother already passed on.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I could not imagine my life without the gospel. I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years of my life I did follow the teachings of the church because it was what was expected of me. I went to church because my family went. It wasn't as though was against the church, I just hadn't taken the time out of my life to truly find my place in it. However, as I moved away from home and found that I had to then rely on my own testimony and my own faith, I realized I wasn't as strong as I thought I had been. It has been a long road for me with many ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade my life now for anything. I am a Mormon because I know that the gospel is true. I see the happiness that I have found through the teachings of this church. I have felt of God's love for me because of the church and I never want to be without that. I am not a perfect Mormon, far from it. But I am trying and I know that some day I will get there.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always looking for ways to help others. I am preparing to serve a full-time mission for the LDS church, but in the meantime I am finding ways to serve others through small means. A smile. A conversation. I have found these things not only help others to be happier, but it also helps me to find more joy in my life.
