Hi I'm Holly

I'm an Idahoan, born and raised. I'm also a musician. And a writer. Foremost I am a wife and I love every moment of it!

About Me

I love to learn. My life has been defined by what I want to learn. Right now, it's music, teaching, and personal growth. College is almost done and soon my husband and I will move on and start a family. We have no idea where we will be in a year, but we'll find out together and that makes it all the better!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and was very active in going to church throughout my life. I grew up with the Book of Mormon being a staple in my house. We always listened to General Conference (which provides us with the opportunity to hear from our church leaders and our prophet Thomas S. Monson). Since the messages taught were so familiar to me, sometimes I took them for granted. However, once I moved out I learned that I was deeply dependent on the messages I had been taught. I learned that they were no longer messages to me - they were truths, they were doctrine. They showed me a higher, happier way of living my life and I discovered that I, in turn, did not want to live without them. I would like to share a few of the truths I have learned. There are so many things I could share, but these, to me, are among the most important. First, Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. He atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, died on the cross at Golgotha, and was resurrected three days later from the tomb He had been buried in. Second, Christ took upon Himself our sins and sorrows and, in return, asks us to repent and follow Him. This is the way we can return to our Heavenly Father and be saved. Third, we all make mistakes. We all sin. It's inevitable. That's why the Atonement is there. If we turn to Christ and confess our sins, and then forsake our sins, He will help us. We can be saved. We can be healed. We will be healed of all our ailments and sorrows, and cleansed of all our sins and shortcomings if we turn to Christ. I choose to be an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because these truths bring me hope and joy. I choose to be a member because I know this Gospel is the truth. I know the Book of Mormon is truth. The words that come from our prophet Thomas S. Monson are truth. They bring me life, hope, and happiness.

How I live my faith

My community is very transitory (it's a college town), but we do our best to keep in touch with our friends mostly through church events and visit teaching/home teaching. I currently play the organ for my church meetings, which is both wildly different from my music studies at school and very, very fun! My husband and I like to read religious books and discuss religious topics together, and those topics often stem from the lessons he teaches in church meetings.
