Hi I'm Elise Berning

I grew up in Kaysville, Utah. I'm an ice cream enthusiast. I love to run fast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid ice cream enthusiast - mint chocolate chip, cookies and cream, neapolitan, caramel toffee crunch - you name it I love it. Along with my love for ice cream I also love nutrition and exercise, after all I have to balance out my ice cream obsession. I am currently studying to be a Dietitian with a minor in Psychology. The idea that food can help or hinder the body’s performance in stressful situations, athletic endeavors, or in simple everyday life is a great interest to me. For me being healthy is a lifestyle, not a fad or a quick fix. I also believe in having adventures and loving life. My past adventure over this last year was being a sprinter for Utah State University, it ended with a badly sprained ankle and the season cut short but it was an adventure for sure. It taught me major time management skills and prepared me to work two summer jobs so I could save for my next couple years of college. Whether it is hiking, mountain biking, or playing in creeks I am all for it. I absolutely love trying new things and my newest conquest is yoga. I am not flexible by any means and it is a struggle to touch my toes, but I love mastering each pose and seeing my step-by-step progress.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I grew up going to church every week, reading the Book of Mormon daily, and singing songs about Jesus Christ. I was baptized at age 8 and graduated seminary at age 18. I have always been a Mormon but I continue to be a Mormon because I know this to be the only true and living church on this earth. I continue to follow the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ because I have prayed and asked to know if Jesus Christ really is my Savior and if the Book of Mormon is really another testament of Him. I have had my prayers answered, I have felt the peace and joy that following my Savior can bring. He is always there. This is why I proudly declare to be a Mormon and a member of my Savior's church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day by remembering who I am, I am a child of God and disciple of Jesus Christ. I try to do what He would do. I love, I live, I fall, I stand up and do it all over again and again. I am able to continue to try because of my Savior. I am not perfect and continually fall short but Jesus Christ is my Teacher and I am learning. I know we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father who wants us come to Him and receive joy. I currently teach a Sunday School class for three-year-olds. We have lessons on "I love my Family", "I am Thankful for Food and Clothes" and "I can Forgive Others", the material is simple but all of it true. These small children teach me so much, they know who Christ is, they may not understand the great gift He has given to them but they know Jesus loves them. I am currently preparing to serve a mission in the land of Mexico. I know I have been called by God to preach His word and bring His love for His children Mexico. I cannot speak any form Spanish -besides counting to ten- but I do know these people are children of God and my brothers and sisters. I live my faith by remembering that life is meant to be enjoyed not just endured. I have a Savior who died and was resurrected so I could return and live with Him again. I am so blessed and grateful to have that knowledge, it brings such a joy into life. He lives so I can have joy and I live by that knowledge and faith I have in Him.
