Hi I'm Ernesto de la Merced II

I'm a Filipino. I will be embarking in God's service in Dominican Republic this coming September! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 18 years old and I love to write. I love to read books and talk to people. I want to be a journalist someday. I recently received my mission call to serve in Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission. I'm planning to take up journalism in college after I serve my mission in Dominican Republic. I live in a sock-shaped island in the middle of the Philippines. I grew up in Escalante City, a small town but the people who live in it have big hearts. I love to serve people. I joined a lot of clubs and organizations back in High School because I love the feeling of serving others. I decided to be a missionary because I wanted others to enjoy the same blessings that I do from the true gospel. I want others to have the same happiness that I have by living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Living the gospel as a teenager is really difficult. Peer pressure, education, worldly trends, and pop culture are among the hindrances of being steadfast to the true gospel. I am a Mormon because I keep my standards high despite of all the temptations. Setting high standards for myself has helped me more than I would of ever thought. Witnessing friends who get into drugs, teenage pregnancy, and alcohol, and how much it affected their lives is such convincing evidence that God gives us commandments to protect and guide us back to Him. I am so blessed that I have been able to grow in the church through the guidance of the Holy Ghost. he gospel of Jesus Christ is something that I can turn to for comfort and answers. During conflict and trial I can turn to my personal scripture study and discover answers to my questions. When I make mistakes I am able to use the atonement of Jesus Christ to attain forgiveness for my sins. It is always comforting to know that when you make mistakes you are able to be clean and pure again. I am a Mormon because the Church brings me so much happiness and joy in my life. I couldn't imagine my life without the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the Church is the Lord's kingdom once again established here on earth. I am so grateful for the knowledge the Church provides and for the impact it made in my life and my family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by laboring in the Lord's vineyard. I'm going to serve my mission in Dominican Republic. The Lord has given me much and I too must give. He gave His life for me and the least I can do is give two years of my life in serving Him and His people. My Mom served in Philippines Cagayan de Oro Mission a long time ago and she's my inspiration. She inspired me to labor among His children and help them come back to His fold. I also live my faith by being a good example to others. I do all that I can to help my ward and stake. I strive to live my faith by fulfilling and magnifying my calling to the maximum potential. By keeping the Lord's commandments, I know that He will strengthen me. Truly, greater blessings and more happiness await me as I live my Faith.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

Ernesto de la Merced II
You can always find members of the Church. They are willing to share their testimony about the Church. The missionaries of the Church will also help you understand better about the Church and the gospel. Show more Show less
