Hi I'm Matthew Mills

Hey, what's up whoever is looking at my profile. I'm currently serving a Mission in Fort Collins, Colorado. See ya in 2018!

About Me

Hey, my name is Matt, I'm from Riverside California. I grew up in California so I pretty much love anything and everything that pertains to the beach. I'm fairly athletic and love the outdoors, I enjoy almost all sports and just hanging out with close friends. I'm a sophomore at Utah Valley University but put my education on hold to serve a mission for the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a fairly inactive family, growing up I was able to be baptized but because we hardly attended church I never understood the significance of it. By the time we finally started becoming active again I had already made up my mind about the church and about the type of life I wanted. All throughout high school and my freshman year in College I attended church but only as a means to not have my mom yell at me, I seriously got nothing out of it. During this time I made some of the dumbest decisions that often ended up with me getting into trouble, but at the time I didn't care because it was fun. It wasn't until my brother (A return missionary) forced me to come with him to the Young Singles Adult ward and one of their activities. The ward was great because it actually had people there that were my age. I found a group of friends that I instantly connected with, I started coming to church more and more and realizing the blessings of having friends that were good influences. Then they started preparing for missions. Slowly they all started to leave, I saw the type of person I had become just by being around them for awhile and I saw the type of person I want to become for my future family and wife. I knew that the only way to have that was to come back to church and serve a mission, so that's what I did and that's what I'm currently doing here in Fort Collins, Colorado. I'm so glad for the chance to show people how much the Gospel of Jesus Christ can benefit their lives just as it does and did mine.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday as I strive to be a better person for my future family. If it wasn't for the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ I would probably still be living with the pain and guilt of my past mistakes and defiantly wouldn't be serving a 2 year mission. It's because of repentance and my faith in Jesus Christ that I've come to know that I have been forgiven. I know the peace and happiness that comes from faith in the Savior and his sacrifice, and I just feel blessed to be in the mission field with the opportunity to share that peace and happiness with those I come across.
