Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Utah. I am serving a mission in Texas. I'm a son, a brother, a student, a friend... And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I have an awesome family and great friends. I ran on the track and cross-country teams through high school. I love being outdoors running, hiking, camping, and more, but I'm also always ready for a game night or movie night with friends. I also love to read, draw, and listen to music. I'm almost always down with trying something new! I am currently serving as a missionary in Texas, and after my mission I want to study engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, but that's not the only reason I am a Mormon. As I have grown up, I have recognized the great impact that church has had on my life. Through reading the scriptures, listening to the words of living prophets and apostles, and praying to my Heavenly Father, I have gained my own testimony of the truth of His gospel. He has helped me when I was stressed in school, nervous before a cross-country race, worried about speaking at my graduation, anxious about the future, and scared about the challenges that I face. Whenever I've made a choice, putting my trust in God, things have always worked out for the best. There have been struggles and trials, doubts and fears, but in the end it has always been worth it. I know that this gospel brings peace and happiness into the hearts of those who are willing to hear it. I know that it can bring us eternal salvation and permanent joy. And most of all, I know that our Heavenly Father and our Savior love us and want what's best for us. And that's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in everything I do. I love serving others through church and through other organizations. I have served as a leader in my youth groups in church, and I love the opportunity to help and get to know the other youth in my area. At school, I always tried to be friendly to everyone, and treat them how the Savior would treat them. One major way I am currently living my faith is by serving as a missionary for two years. Through service and teaching, I am able to invite others to come unto Christ. And I know that they will be blessed because of it.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No members of the Church are required to serve missions; missionary service is purely voluntary, and we don't get paid for serving, either. We serve out of a desire to fulfill the responsibility of spreading God's truth to all the corners of the earth, and to help others change their lives and receive the blessings that our Heavenly Father has in store for them. I started my mission when I was 18 years old, and I was called to serve in the Texas McAllen mission for 2 years. Show more Show less
