Hi I'm Sam Eaton

I was born in California, grew up in Utah, and finished high school in Wyoming. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My father is a convert from an anti-mormon family. With his help and guidance, I started Martial Arts at a young age. Having studied Shaolin Kempo (Shorinji Kenpo), Brazilian Jujitsu, and Wonjin Hapkido, it is a big part of my life. My father and I infused our styles and own a martial arts school. I am leaving this successful part of life behind, to serve my God and Lord on a Mission to Bangkok, Thailand!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents stories are a true inspiration to me. My father's parents divorced in his adolescence, and as such his older brother stepped into the role as an untitled religious leader. He has done a good job, but became very hard anti-mormon when my father converted. My fathers conversion story actually starts with Martial Arts. He married and had a daughter, then as his marriage ended he did real in depth soul searching. Martial Arts filled a hole, and allowed him to grow closer to God through meditation on the beach. One thing lead to another, and he met my mother who had fallen away from her born and raised mormon faith. Both had previous families that fell apart. They were met in California after being married, by an Elder Black and Elder White. These missionaries reignited the spirit in my mother, and was an answer to my father's 35 years of prayers! They were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and had me four years later. Having been born in the Covenant, all I have ever known is the LDS faith. However, I have been involved in families through older siblings, uncles, aunts, and grandparents who have fallen away through addiction, pain, and emotional torment. When I was eight years old, I was interviewed by my bishop in Utah to be baptized. Although worthy, my bishop recommended I read the Book of Mormon. Through the help of my parents, we read diligently and finished on schedule for my baptism. However, Moroni's words 10:3,4 which is his Moroni's invitation to ask God with real intent if these things are not true. These words struck me deep, and I did as he instructed. As I inquired of the Lord the Holy Ghost bore testament unto me that these things are true. This has stuck with me and continued whenever I ask. I know that this church is true and that we can receive true Joy through our fathers plan. The fullness of his gospel is inviting unto all. Inquire and it will make all the difference! I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings, but having recently advanced in the Priesthood, have been released from my Aaronic Priesthood callings. I currently serve as a Family History Consultant, and commonly teach the family history class during second hour in my ward. Having recently gone through the temple for myself, I really enjoy going through for my ancestors and look forward to feeling closer to them! I recognize my Father in Heaven as my God, his Son Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit as his testament to me. I feel closer to them everyday when I open the doors of heaven through prayer and scripture study! I encourage all to do the same!
