Hi I'm Carolyn

I love reading and hiking. I'm a violinist. The best part of my life is my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a full-time college student, working on my Bachelors of Music degree in Violin Performance. I'm particularly fond of Bach and Rachmaninoff. I'm addicted to good stories. While books are my favorite medium, I love stories in any format they are presented in, be it movie, play, word of mouth, comic book, etc. I enjoy traveling to new places and meeting new people, and the best people in the whole world are my six incredible siblings and my sweet mom and dad. I spent 18 months in Denmark serving as a full-time missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Latter-day Saint family. On both sides of my tree, the Church has deep roots. For a long time, I was Mormon simply because my family was and I hadn't really considered there was any other possibility. When I was about thirteen years old, I began to form friendships with people of other faiths, or with no faith at all. It startled me to find that others did not have the same convictions I did. I was confused. Did I really know what I thought I did? I started to read my scriptures more earnestly. I started to pray more fervently. In short, I started to really study what it meant to be a Mormon. I came to realize that being a member made me happy. Because of the perspective that I have as a Mormon, I have a personal relationship with God, my Father in Heaven. Because I'm a Mormon, I feel so much hope in spite of the evil in the world. Because I'm a Mormon, I know I have a Savior who made it possible for me to be free from sin, guilt, and death. Because I'm a Mormon, I know I'll live with my family forever. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it gives me peace, purpose, and joy.

How I live my faith

I believe that the best way to live your faith is by the small and simple things you do each day. I think every person in this world wants to make a difference and be remembered and respected. The best way we can do that is by living our best every day. I try to live my faith by remembering to do the small and simple things that my Lord and Savior has asked of me. I pray every morning and night, I read the scriptures, I try to love those I interact with. I try to find at least one person to serve every day. Perhaps this things are not grand, but they make an enormous difference in my happiness. In addition to these every day things, I'm also preparing to serve an eighteen month mission. I have felt such extreme happiness while living my faith, and I want others to be able to feel that same joy.
