Hi I'm Janette Sobkowicz

I'm a Canadian, a musician, a wife and a mother. I'm happy to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I live in Canada and enjoy walking in our beautiful parks, and looking for birds and other interesting creatures (the non-dangerous ones!). I have five children and eleven grand-children, whom I love to see. My children are some of my best friends. I have a semi-retired engineering husband, which is great since I enjoy spending time with him too. Fortunately for me, he also loves the outdoors. I have a bachelor of music degree and taught lessons for over twenty years. People could choose flute, piano or voice lessons - they liked the variety. I also conducted many church choirs. I enjoy bringing out the musicality in others.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the church when I was a young child; I was baptized at the age of 10. I have always believed in Jesus Christ and his Atonement. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is organized by the same priesthood power that Jesus used to organize the church when he was on the earth. I believe it is truly the only church that has the authority to open the way back to heaven. We have temples that we can enter if worthy and be sealed to our family forever. I love my husband and children; I want to be with them for the eternities. It has been a driving influence for me throughout my life. I also love my Saviour and Heavenly Father, and want to be with them when I leave this earth.

How I live my faith

Our church is a place of faith and action. We show our love for the Saviour by serving others. I have had many responsibilities in the church, e.g., organizing service projects for those in need, working in the temple helping others receive their ordinances, befriending people in and outside of the church, playing the organ and piano when needed, and teaching singing and spiritual lessons. There is always something one can do if they are willing. My husband and I soon leave for a 1 1/2 year mission to Australia, to help people become self-reliant both spiritually and temporally. We are looking forward to getting to know the people and helping them improve their quality of life.
