Hi I'm Sam Arkoudas

I grew up on a farm in Montana. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was a little kid, I've had a love of the outdoors. Skiing, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, etc. and growing up in both Utah and Montana, I've been able to have amazing experiences in all of these activities. As a high schooler, I was involved in many clubs and organizations and served as the Student Body Secretary my Senior year. I was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and received my Eagle Award when I was 15. Unfortunately, I've never been a sports kind of guy, mainly because I love to get out and do things and I have never been very good at sitting still.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am a member of my Church but the most important reason, and the one I base my testimony on, is because I know that Jesus Christ died for me and took away my sins. I may not be able to say it the most eloquent or give the most feeling through my words but I know that God lives and that His son died for me. I know that they appeared to Joseph Smith in order to restore Christ's Gospel in these days. I know that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God and that the Prophet of the Church today, Thomas S. Monson is a true Prophet of God. I apologize that I am not able to give you more reason other than, I know, but it is something that burns within me and I cannot deny it. God has blessed me so abundantly throughout my entire life and I know that he strives to bless everyone who keeps His commandments.

How I live my faith

As an active member of the LDS Church I participate in monthly visits to families in my ward. This is known as "Home Teaching". We try to get to know each of the families and share a quick message. We also have a great youth group which allows me to interact with all of the kids in my ward weekly. We usually play games, do service projects or just enjoy each other's company and there are always good refreshments. During our church services, I am given the opportunity to bless and pass the Sacrament, the most important aspect of our weekly meeting. Young men, just like me, also administer this great blessing to those in our ward. It truly is a special experience.
