Hi I'm Tom Nelson

I live in Utah, but I grew up in Oregon and have lived many places. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My wife Suzan and I were not able to have children. We're looking forward to having a family in the Millennium. We love pets and we currently have two cats. Both of us are readers and take care in good writing. I'm currently writing a novel that I hope to publish soon.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother's father came from a family of 19th Century converts to the Church. Some of crossed the American Plains pulling handcarts and endured great suffering for their faith. My other grandparents were not Mormon and my father never joined the Church. I realized when I was 18 years old that there had to be more to life than just the physical. I felt I should pray and it came to me that I should read The Book of Mormon. I started reading and felt that it was true. I had not attended church for a long time and I had to change some habits. With prayer, scripture study, and obedience, I gained a testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and of His restored Church.

How I live my faith

Where we live there are many young adult members of the Church and I've served in one of their wards for the past three years. It's a great opportunity to associate an ever changing group of inspired and inspiring young people. One of the great joys is seeing the increasing number of young women returning from serving full-time missions.
