Hi I'm Shayne

I'm grew up in southern Colorado, I'm attending college in Salt Lake City. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've live in Colorado my whole (minus my 9 months away at school). I have been working as a caregiver for the better part of the last year. Currently I'm working with a family from my ward. I absolutely love being a caregiver and being able to do acts of service everyday. Along with that I love to dance whether it be in a class as a workout or just in my car. Recently I decided that I am going to minor in dance along with majoring in neuroscience, and minoring in psychology.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 12 years old. My parents joined the church when I was about 2 but got divorced shortly after, at which point both went stopped attending. One day years later two missionaries stopped by to try and meet my mom and see why she hadn't been to church. This was a life changing day for me and my step dad. After their first visit my step dad and I knew that we wanted to take the lessons and learn about the church. We started lessons the next week. We quickly committed to baptism dates. My family was very active in the church after we joined. Then unfortunately my step dad's dad got diagnosed with late stage cancer. This was a huge blow and shock to my family. Instead of turning to God and the church we turned away and stopped attending church or activities. This made the struggle so much worse. We remained inactive for several years, but thankfully the missionaries yet again came to meet us and ask why we hadn't been to church. We became very close with these missionaries and eventually we began going to church again. When we began going to church again I felt so loved and know truly that this is the true church. When I was first baptized I didn't question the church I just felt like it was right . It wasn't until returning that I began to ask question and came to build a testimony. I know this is the true church. I know that missionaries are servants of God. I know that by living the gospel and going to this church and following the words of the profit you will be happier and experience so much joy. I didn't believe this until I experienced it for myself. I also know that God is our heavenly father and that he knows what is best for us, His plan will always be the best thing for us. I've struggled to learn this but its so true and will bring so much joy to your life. I'm so grateful to be able to be a member of this church and to be able to spread that joy and love I feel every day with others.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve as a missionary in the Italy Rome mission (basically the southern half of Italy and a few of the surrounding islands). The only other call I have had was to be a ward missionary prior to my return home from school. I frequently go out with the missionaries serving in my ward, being able to see and meet new people either from the ward or investigators is a truly amazing experience. The main purpose of missionary work is to share the gospel and the teaching of this church. Missionaries also do a lot of volunteer work within the communities they're serving in, and also spend a lot of time with the member assuring that if they too have any kind of question or doubt they have some one to ask. I cannot wait to go out and serve my own mission, and be able to be a key part of bringing to gospel to peoples lives!
