Hi I'm T. Scot Nielson

I enjoy hammocks, astronomy, and chess. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have also lived in Chicago, Cincinnati, and Colorado. I am the oldest of five siblings. I enjoy listening to podcasts and watching TED talks. I am a frequent doer of stuff/things and enjoy the outdoors. I like to paint, look at stars, and play chess. After serving a two-year mission in Chile, I will attend college in Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

I truly believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains the fulness of the gospel. I believe that God has a plan, and that plan leads to eternal happiness and can only be achieved through His son Jesus Christ. I believe in modern revelation, in the Book of Mormon as the word of God, and in the Atonement of Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be more like Christ. This means that I work to serve more and love more, and to become more compassionate, patient, and humble. Being from a small ward, I try to invite as many friends as I can to our activities, which include church dances, geocaching, frisbee golf, and more. I was recently called to our ward's Family History Consultant, which means that I help guide people to find their relatives and learn about their personal history. Beginning in September, I will be serving as a missionary in the Chile Concepción South Mission. I am excited to share something that has been such a great influence in my life with the people of Chile!

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

T. Scot Nielson
We believe that our live extends beyond our time here on Earth. Having a knowledge of the plan of salvation, we know that we came here in order to receive a body and gain experiences. We believe that God's goal is to "bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" and we know that the purpose of our life here on Earth is to achieve that immortality and eternal life by following the commandments of God and coming unto Christ.
