Hi I'm Abbie Putnam

I live in Utah. I am working towards being a writer and inspirational speaker. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently completed my first year at college. My major is undecided, but I love psychology and I also love to write. I am working on a book that is about my own life experiences in the hopes that one day I will be able to travel and speak about it in order to do my part to help others endure through their own unique trials and experiences. I also keep a blog about my own personal everyday struggles with the same intent of helping others on their separate life journeys. I am also a swimmer, a swim instructor, a lifeguard, and an actress.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church, but decided early on that it was important for me to know for myself if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. Around the age of 13 or 14, I began to seek for this faith by reading the Book of Mormon, praying each day, and listening to the words of modern-day prophets. Slowly but surely, I received my own witness that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church upon the earth, that we have a loving Heavenly Father who gave us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as a Savior for us- to not only help us to be forgiven of our sins, but also so that we may be helped and carried through each of our trials. I know that this church is true, that it will bring unimaginable joy into any life, and that each of us is loved more than we can even imagine.

How I live my faith

I teach the three and four year old children each Sunday during our church meetings, and I have received my mission call to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from November 2016- May 2018. Living my faith by serving others and by living the principles of the gospel is the thing that brings me the most joy in my life!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Abbie Putnam
Mormons are not required to serve missions. Young Men are often encouraged to serve (but not required), and it is an option for all Mormons. I have found that as I have been converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, my desire to serve a mission grew. I have decided to serve a mission because I want all people to have what I have been so blessed to have- the knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to come back into His presence through His son, Jesus Christ, and the indescribable joy that this brings into my life each and every day. I consider it a great privilege and blessing to be able to serve a mission. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Abbie Putnam
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is often discussed as Jesus Christ suffering for the sins of all of mankind so that mankind can take the steps (having faith, repenting of sins, baptism and confirmation, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, receiving sacred ordinances, and obedience) necessary to return to Gods presence. While the Atonement does include Jesus Christ suffering for sin, it also includes Jesus Christ bearing each individual's burdens, making it possible for Him to help us through the hard times in our life. These two things together make the Atonement one of the greatest gifts. I am so grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ, not only because it makes it so that I can be forgiven of my mistakes if I repent, but also so that I can be strengthened throughout my life.
