Hi I'm Adam

I'm a native of Utah, a student at Brigham Young University, a guitarist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I was born and raised in Utah, where I attend BYU as a music major studying classical guitar performance. I have played music almost all my life, and picked up guitar when I was 16. I may study classical, but I play most genres, and Progressive Rock/Metal have my heart. I love bands and artists like Dream Theater, Rush, Animals as Leaders, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Neal Morse, Flyleaf, Haken, and many, many more. I love to take care of my body, and for several years was an avid runner. I ran two half marathons in the summer of 2015, running both in under 2 hours. More recently, I transitioned to weightlifting which I enjoy greatly. I love to lift not only because of the benefits, but also because I take great pleasure in being strong enough to help others with things that they need. Move a couch? No problem. Dig up the sprinklers? You got it. I have worked in the mental health field for the last 4 years, and work closely with troubled youth at residential treatment facilities. There is a great feeling of fulfillment in this field, and I love being able to help teenagers through difficult patches of their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, but through personal experience I have learned that this Church is truly the Restored Church of Jesus Christ, and contains the fullness of His Gospel. As a teenager and in my early 20's I struggled with serious depression, and I found hope and healing through the Atonement of Christ, which I have learned to access by following His commandments, keeping the covenants I made at baptism, and striving to endure to the end of my life. There is a light, a healing, a hope, a respite, a refuge, a home, and a love in this Church that transcends anything I have ever experienced elsewhere. When I walk into a congregation or a temple on the other side of the world, I am surrounded by friends. I am home. I feel welcomed, at peace, and loved. By living this Gospel, I have grown to know with a surety that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He lives! I have a personal relationship with Him, and I know that He knows me by name, that He loves me.

How I live my faith

I pray regularly to my Heavenly Father, first thing in the morning, last thing in the evening, and many times in between. I also make scripture study a daily priority, and strive to take the principles I learn from stories in the scriptures and apply them to my life. For example, when I read about patience, I try to emulate the examples in the scriptures as I work with the youth at my job, or as I associate with my family when we have differences of opinion. My favorite example to follow is the Savior Jesus Christ, and I often study His teachings. I strive to give service regularly, helping people move, assisting them with yard work, etc. I also try to be a shoulder of support for my friends when they are struggling, and always lend a listening ear. As part of my church callings, I teach a class every 4th Sunday. I also make visits to members of my congregation monthly to deliver gospel messages, offer service, and just get to know them. My favorite part of living my faith is going to the temple! I try to attend once every week, and love serving there. The temple is, without question, my favorite place in the world.
